Situated in Ishigaki Island, 1.3 km from Painuhama Artificial Beach, HOSTEL SunTerrace Ishigaki features accommodation with a shared lounge, private parking and a terrace. With a garden, the 1-star hostel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen, and luggage storage for guests.

Quite liked this place, the communal area is open and bright, kitchen is stocked (spices and oil avalable, ask staff, no problem) stayed in a dorm, not capsule style. Nice staff, friendly, Okinawa style. During my stay there were mostly locals and hanging out was nice and made the experience cozy and friendly. Ishigaki is an awesome island, and this is a good base to explore it from. Close to the "downtown" area on foot, 8min walk, 16 min walk to the closest big supermarket. First bus stop 3 min walk.

Everything was fine. I was greeted on arrival by the owner and my stay was a pleasant one. My schedule was a little difficult but the owner was very flexible about this, which I appreciated. The location, 10 minutes by bus from the airport (with the stop immediately outside), was very useful.

Taketomijima Guesthouse and je Taime features affordable dormitory-style accommodations with Asian decors. Guests can enjoy the island with rental bicycles. Taketomi Port is a 15-minute walk away.

Each room is shared and features a fan and bunk beds. Rooms are decorated in an Asian Okinawa-style with Asian lamps and imported tiles. Bathrooms and toilets are available on site and shared with other guests.

Amazing place. It's a small traditional guest house. I chose a private room and had space and privacy. The staff that welcomed me was incredibly nice and helpful. Taketomi is so far my favorite island of the beautiful Yaeyama. The owner very kindly took us on a little night trip to discover wild life. Other guests are extremely thoughtful so even if the rooms are not sound proofed, I slept very well. I am very thankful and will be back!

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travellers know that there is no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a bit more.

It was very cheap, probably the cheapest accommodation in the area. The staff was kind enough to meet me in front of the hostel as it was difficult to find at night.

Small, pokey little hostel-type place. But if you can bag one of the cheapy-cheap private rooms, you've got yourself a bargain.

An old-fashioned backpacker's hostel in a good sense. super friendly staff with everything a backpacker on a shoestring would need. from free laundry to several communal kitchens, breezy terrace to hung out and even a place for tents. the dormitory room was a bit small, but your bed has everything you'll need. they also have 2 beautiful and friendly cats.
