Casa AHAU, hotel in San Pedro La Laguna

Casa AHAU in San Marcos La Laguna provides adults-only accommodation with a garden, a shared lounge and a terrace. The accommodation provides a shared kitchen and free WiFi.

We would highly recommend this accommodation and we were sad to leave. It was really chilled accommodation and we loved being surrounded by amazing plants (and cats and a dog!) The owner Erik was super friendly and nice. We enjoyed the delicious free Guatemalan breakfast every morning and the morning yoga classes (at 40q per lesson) on the rooftop overlooking the volcanos.

EB5 Escape-Contemporary Stay, San Marcos La Laguna #1, hotel in San Pedro La Laguna

EB5 Escape-Contemporary Stay, San Marcos La Laguna #1 is offering accommodation in San Marcos La Laguna. The property is non-smoking and is set 32 km from Volcano Atitlan.

We loved our apartment #2 with lake view and the artsy decoration around the property. Housekeeping and maintenance are done by a sweet local family. We were glad about the kitchen access, it wasn't clear from the property description if this was still included. When the shower worked, it was really nice and hot. There's a corner shop with a lovely employee just across the street who sold us better meds than the pricey pharmacy downtown. Yes, this property is in a less developed part of San Marcos, but by no means unsafe. If you are "scared" of poor people, don't come to Guatemala.

Great location, less than 5 min from the dock. Clean, comfy double bed, with sockets next to each and dressers to use for belongings. There is only one toilet and one shower (hot water) for the whole floor, but I never waited for either, since people seem to mainly only come to the hostel to sleep. The staff is not always available, but very friendly and helpful when they are. The shared kitchen has a big fridge with plenty of space for food.

Great location with amazing views on the lake. Breakfast is very good (!) and in a nice bar next to the hostel. The hostel offers free tuktuk and kayak services, which I found amazing. Kayaking around the lake is a wonderful experience and a must do.

Really nice hostel, I love the concept : you sleep in large and comfortable tents, you feel the fresh air on the night, nicer than a dormitory for me. The staff is really friendly and the location good, not far from the center but in a quiet neighbourhood next to the lake. Free breakfast, you have also a nice kitchen and a little workout area !

I came to Guatemala to backpack and met some people with who I was travelling for a while. We saw this hotel and went there. it was more than the normal backpacker accommodation. However, it was very quite and not a social place, depends on what you like. The rooms are cheap and have a private bathroom. The host didn't try to rip us off, he was very nice (but he didn't speak english). I can really recommend it, if you want to get out of hostels for a bit but still want to have a cheap accommodation.

The common room is great, bar and restaurant good and cheap. The staff is super nice and the privacy of tents is great. It's clearly the best hostel I've ever been in. I booked one night ended up staying for 7 nights.
