Albergue de Santullán, hotel in Castro-Urdiales

Located in Castro-Urdiales, Albergue de Santullán features a garden, shared lounge, terrace, and free WiFi throughout the property.

I expected simple accommodations and those I received were in line with other albergues I had stayed at before. I appreciated that the option for returning late was made possible by use of a door code, not usually a feature when staying at albergues.

Albergue Areitz Soroa, hotel in Castro-Urdiales

Areitz Soroa is located in the most beautiful and quiet valley of Bizkaia, in the municipality of Galdames.

This is a magical place, you feel like you're away from everything while you're only a 20 mins drive from the beach and 30 minutes drive from Bilbao centre. Friendly, warm owners, HUGE family room, organic garden, farm animals and delicious breakfast with homemade cake. We were sad to leave.

Watsay Surf House, hotel in Castro-Urdiales

Located in Santoña, 200 metres from Playa de Berria, Watsay Surf House provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace.

Great place to stay when on the Camino de Santiago. The place turned out to be a surf school/camp which wasn't clear on the booking.com site but this did not bother us. When we arrived end of September their season seemed nearly over. Hardly any guests other than us. Still we were nicely welcomed and shown around. We were lucky to have the dorm and bathroom to ourselves. Everything was extremely clean and well maintained. We were able to use the kitchen to prepare a salad and eat in the dining room. We did not take breakfast in the morning though. Although there was some building work on the next property it was very quiet over night. No roadside noises at all.

Very centrally located, right on the Camino Norte. Staff were very helpful. Room had everything I needed. There is car parking in the local parking garage, it's cheaper if you pay for it through the hotel.

I stayed here while walking the Camino del Norte and it was the best albergue I stayed in the whole time. I met several people who I then spent a week trekking with and stayed in touch with others. The owner is an amazingly kind and welcoming woman with two little dogs which follow you around - made it all feel very homely. Laundry is free, beers are cheap, the hostel has a beautiful garden and there are several great places nearby for beers and dinner. Excellent stay, would recommend!
