Rancho Grande Hostel is a large ranch-style hostel with stunning views of the Patagonian Mountains. Free WiFi is available throughout the property.

Accommodation at Rancho Grande Hostel includes mixed dormitories with shared bathrooms and private rooms with en suite bathrooms. All have simple furnishings with bright yellow walls.

I’m not sure why this hostel/hotel has this rating cause I’d definitely give it a 9.5 out of 10! We stayed in a private room and it was great: warm, clean, all the toiletries provided. The breakfast was the best we’ve had so far in Patagonia! The receptionists at the check in are very helpful and friendly. Gracias Valentin por todos!

Exceptional owner. Very kind, attentive and lots of useful tips. I've never stayed in a dorm that was so good value. It was even better than my previous stays in a private room. Thumbs up to Roberto and his wife Julia for a great stay. Don't even look further, just book here 😎

The owner was really friendly and very helpful. The town was very small so even though it’s located at the corner of the town everything was still accessible from it.

Hostel Pioneros del Valle has bright rooms with shared bathrooms and light wood furnishings. Some rooms offer city and mountain views. Laundry facilities are provided.

Suprisingly very good breakfast compared with other (and luxurious) accomodations we stayed in Argentina. Spacious room has everything we needed: hot shower, radiator - you really need this if hike. Staff is also nice. The equipment is little bit old, but for us it is OK. We would stay again.

Looking for a hostel?

Budget travelers know there's no better way to make the most of their trip than by staying at a hostel: Save money for exploring during the day, and swap stories with fellow backpackers in the shared kitchen or bar in the evening. Dorm-style bedrooms with shared bathrooms are standard hostel fare, but private rooms are also available for those willing to pay a little more.

Very good location, a short walk from the bus station, no taxi necessary, if you're up for rolling your luggage down the street or sidewalk for about 5 to 10 minutes. Front desk staff Diana and Augustina were very friendly and helpful, they gave us good info about the town, restaurants and the hikes. Included breakfast was adequate. Room was quiet. FYI, This place is basically a hostel for budget conscious travellers, many of whom had rooms with shared bathrooms.

Rancho Grande is at a great location in El Chaltén - close to the start of all the famous trekking trails. The restaurant area is open 24/7 - food is great (huge and delicious Milanesas! By staying in the hostel, I got 10% discount for all dinners. The atmosphere is very cozy, perfect for an after-hike relaxation. The kitchen area is big, common areas are well-designed.

I’m not sure how this hostel isn’t better rated. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff were great, the facilities are great and the atmosphere is perfect! The kitchen is very large and well stocked which allows you to save a bit by cooking. The hostel is also the cheapest option available that we could find in chalten. There is also a very secure procedure for leaving your bags in reception after you’ve checked out if you aren’t ready to leave yet.

The staff were incredibly helpful and one of the cleanest hostels I’ve stayed in. Rooms had lockers and there were plenty of showers and toilets so I never had to wait. Best location for hikes as well as you’re a 2 minute walk from the base. Charged in the official currency as well which makes it even cheaper than advertised in GBP.

Cosy hostel, good staff, great location for the v popular Laguna de Los Tres hike. One of the dorm rooms has two beds and they let us switch, so effectively a private twin (bunkbed) room for the same price.
