My homestay hosts were very kind, generous and flexible, and over the week I had plenty of time to get to know them personally. We spent time over a good breakfast of eggs, pastries, bread and coffee, to sit and talk for a while - for a solo traveller this is much more interesting than just grabbing a croissant and sitting alone in a hotel lobby!
They also respected privacy and my own schedule. My room was of a decent size and much expanded by the generous terrace, which is great to relax in during early morning, and in the evenings. I was able to spend time in the common areas as if it were my own home too.

The apartment is ideally located in the centre - five minutes walk in one direction to the traditional north African Medina with interesting artisans plus great street food. Five minutes walk in the opposite direction to the French influenced wide boulevard lined with outdoor cafes perfect for people watching. Ines and Taieb are charming and extremely hospitable. It was very clean and very comfortable. Good working aircon and wifi. They also offer some snacks and water. The couple is extreme kind and lovely it felt like family . I am looking forward to come back as soon as possible.

The street is a bit rough and the Souk El Koumach on the same street closes most doors from about 20:00 forcing people to do a longer diversion to get to Dar Kenza, but this is not a big issue. I have never felt unsafe. Despite this the location is good as it is close to all attractions inside the Medina, so quite convenient. Behind Dar Kenza there is Café Slimania, which is highly recommendable and stays open until midnight, eating inside the Medina is not easy and most restaurants close before 19:00, so be prepared. The huge room was okay, clean and the air conditioning worked well, but it was all quite simple.
