We loved absolutely everything! As a huge Beatrix Potter fan it was amazing to stay in an actual cottage that was featured in a few of her books. The historical factor, how pretty the cottage is both inside and out, the décoré, the location! It was all so beautiful- not a single fault to be had. And Robert, the fantastic owner, is one in a million.

Jane was a such a lovely host so friendly, warm and welcoming We stayed in the Grey room which had everything you require it was super cosy and beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. We had a tasty fresh breakfast every morning and a lovely chat with Jane about the area and where we might like to go that day. She gave us lots of ideas on places to visit, and when we arrived back in the evening there was homemade flapjacks waiting in our room these were so good I got the recipe. Super guest house!

This was our second visit to Hill Crest. Jane is a great host and is very knowledgeable about the area. Being greeted with a pot of tea and scones was wonderful after a long journey. The room was clean and comfortable and a great base for touring around the Lake District. Breakfast was excellent. The house is set back from the main road and is peaceful with fabulous views of the countryside..

Absolutely fantastic place. We'd originally booked the Whitewater down the road, to turn up and be told the pool/spa were closed, so this was a very last-minute booking. Couldn't have asked for more. Fantastic staff, always friendly. Good food, nice rooms, fantastic jacuzzi and pool, bar attached full of friendly locals, plenty of board games to choose from. We'd definitely go again.
