We really felt at home at Sonia's place. She gave us a great welcome and tour. You can tell she sees her property and her service as a reflection of herself. The house was warm and comfortable when we arrived, which is much appreciated. The house and property had plenty of space, a place for everyone in our family of seven. Everything was quite clean and neat. The kitchen was very well outfitted. Even though it was cool and wet for much of our time, we were still able to enjoy the backyard and barbecue. The outdoor space would be a great place in the warmer months. The location is good, close to a bus stop but just far enough away from the center of town to be quite peaceful. A good bakery and other shops (including a chocolatier) are within a reasonable walk; supermarkets are a little further than I like but still very walkable. There is a walled public greenspace with a playground and soccer goals just east of the property. And it's an easy hike up to the top of the cliff overlooking the town, even with a stroller; it makes for a good afternoon walk for the whole family. Ornans is a pretty town; the way it is situated along the river just makes you want to stop on the footbridge and take it all in as the water sweeps past below. From the layout, decor and location to the amenities and service, this house just feels good. Don't hesitate. Highly recommended.

Housed in a historic building, the recently renovated moulin de la chevanne features accommodation with a garden and free WiFi. With free private parking, the property is 30 km from Besancon Viotte Train Station and 30 km from Besançon-Mouillère train station. Saint-Jean Cathedral Besançon is 31 km away and Time museum of Besançon is 32 km from the holiday home. Superb location. The riverside mill is extremely picturesque. It is tastefully decorated blending old-world charm with modern comfort and convenience. Nothing is too much trouble for Michel (the owner), who came out in the cold/wet dark night to escort us to the property as we got horribly lost down an old track with fallen trees barring the way! It was so lovely to get into the apartment where a warm log-burning stove made for a cosy welcome. A bottle of rose wine, some chocolates, and freshly picked walnuts soon made us feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the rest of the stay. There are lovely riverside walks and at this time of year, it's very quiet and peaceful. We only stayed 2 nights en route back home but would definitely like to return and stay longer,
