The whole atmosphere and how the cottage looked, very much within the style of the countryside. Warm, welcoming, well equipped (particularly the kitchen - the juicer was something else!). The kitchen was the heart and soul of the place, with the range giving off enough heat to warm up the whole cottage with zero effort from the guests. The bedroom was furnished to perfection with Narnia-style wardrobe and a comfy bed. We wish we stayed there longer! The staircase, even though causing some issues for me as I have some mobility problems, looked amazing - way up to the bedroom, down to the kitchen.
Breakfast was a very nice touch.

Location to Matlock was good..Nice to be outside of Matlock in a smaller village. Nice walk down to the cable cars and Matlock.. Barn had been converted really well ..it is small but good for a short stay. It was very clean and well presented and had some lovely touches.
As previous guests have said, the house is in a lovely quiet location and the history abounds wherever you look in this wonderful old building.

Alison is a wonderful lady who was always available and she would ask us if we needed help with anything.
Her knowledge of the area and the house is amazing and she is only too happy to share this with you.
Lots for breakfast after a great nights sleep, if we’re in the area again would definitely stay here.
The room was very clean and had all you need. There were even a few little touches including chocolates on each bed, donuts and a bottle of Prosecco! There was also a little bottle of fresh milk in the fridge (something you hardly ever get in most hotels). Our 7 year old loved the bunk bed room situated off the main bedroom - makes for a great family room! A very nice continental breakfast with plenty of choice and a fresh pot of coffee each morning!
Really very well presented! And very clean. Small touches like chocolates donuts etc great. Very comfortable stay. Central between Matlock and Matlock bath.
We had a lovely stay in a very clean room with a really comfy bed in a beautiful house. Michael was an excellent host and has thought of everything. He recommended a fantastic restaurant for dinner and made the reservation for us too. Matlock is in easy walking distance for bars and restaurants. Highly recommend!
