Self-catering resources were excellent and meal preparation was a breeze because everything needed was at hand. The whole place was a cut above everything else and the value for money was exceptional. The accomodation met and exceeded expectations including a welcome basket of goodies, a burning log fire and firewood for the night. It was very comfortable and the windows were double glazed so warmth was not an issue. The house was tastefully decorated and a display cabinet offered a range of local and tourist information. Brent the host was welcoming and most helpful.

Loved the cabin, it was perfect for our stay .We visited family and explored the area over 2 days. Cabin was relaxing , we saw sheep being moved , watched the bird life . They are located in a farming community , having farming back ground it was great sitting back and watching the farmers working .I loved the games outside ,I've already told my friends with caravans who are self sufficient to check the accommodation options out.
Places we visited
Deloraine ,loved the park and seeing platypus at play , native hens had 7 chicks so cute to watch.
Meander Dam is a beautiful spot to relax in the picnic area
Highland Lakes was a lovely drive and area to explore , we stopped and walked Pine Lake
Explored some of the roads in the area.
the little reserve/picnic area I discovered my photo on the information board which was a surprise.
Jackeys Creek Reserve was a steep drive , gave some awesome views looking over Meander
Eating Out
we visited both pubs for evening meal with family , had lovely meals. Value for dollars was certainly on our plate.
Hosts we met one as we arrived , chatted to her yesterday , lovely to chat about every day things and the plovers who where happily nesting across from our cabin.
Sunday night we saw Aurora from the front of our cabin over the mountain , that was awesome ,very special.
amazing kitchen with everything you needed to cook a meal with if staying. I was impressed with the layout and kitchen .
Lounge was a nice size which we both commented on as we opened the door up. Bathroom was big ,set up with hand rails , they have really thought out the bathroom and general floor space to accommodated everyone that may need some where to stay.
Thank you for all the goodness , breakfast tray and the lovely sweet slice was great to enjoy.
Thank you for building a carport on the side that was a great to park in , easy to pull in and out from as we came and went a far bit while staying.

Extremely relaxing, very comfy and had all the creature comforts anyone could ask for. Watching the horse play with a picturesque background….loved it!
Great for families or large parties, holiday homes are privately owned accommodation, available for long or short-term rental. These homes are furnished and equipped with kitchen facilities for self-catering, although breakfast may be offered as an add-on. These properties have their own independent front door, which makes them different to apartments.
Loved the mix of heritage & modern. Guided platypus tour was a fantastic touch. Quite basic rooms but very clean & quiet, exactly what we needed. Staff excellent . The included breakfast was a bonus. Would absolutely stay here again. Dinner was a winner also.
Check in was quick and easy
The staff in the bistro were very friendly and efficient
Staff in the bar were nice and helpful
Rooms were very clean but not very comfy pillows, which I think is Very Important, little things like a soap holder in the shower would have been good.... and it was very very noisy the whole time.
Loverly old pub with great views from the veranda. The lounges and kitchenette were modern and well equipped. A dishwasher was provided and the area clean, great communal spaces. The bathrooms were individual, modern and very clean.
Self serve breakfast was great, very clean, awesome food in the restaurant, walking distance to everywhere in town, free Platypus tour included and we saw 3 Platypus. We left something in the room when we checked out and Tristan was absolutely fantastic at locating this item and getting it back to us. The Empire Hotel itself is a lovely old building and very well kept.
