Featuring a garden, the 1-star guest house has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a shared bathroom. The accommodation offers a shared kitchen and a housekeeping service for guests. This guesthouse greatly exceeded my expectations. The sisters were so kind in welcoming me to the house and they even upgraded me from a shared to a single room for free. It was my first time going to an onsen, so they showed me how to put on a yukata properly. They also provided me with the wooden clogs, an obi and an overcoat for winter, a bathing towel and a cute little bag to carry things around during onsen hopping. All of this was completely free of charge. My room was very spacious, heated by aircon, and super quiet, so I had a great night sleep. There was a shared kitchen with free tea and coffee. Kinosaki is very walkable and the location of the guesthouse is right in the middle of the onsen area, on a side street, a short stroll from the train station. The house is exceptionally clean. I cannot recommend this guesthouse highly enough.

There is a private bathroom with hot tub in some units, along with slippers, a hair dryer and free toiletries. At the guest house, the units come with bed linen and towels. Our stay at Tayooka was at the English style double-story house. It was an elegant and well-kept house with 3 fully-equiped studios on the ground floow. We had our pick of the three and chose what suited our needs - a place to cook and chill with separated quarters for sleep and chill/dine. The design was the traditional Japanese style with modern luxuries that allowed us to make good meals with all the kitchen provisions. Attention to details was very evident. All that we could possibly need was provided for. There was an onsen pool down the corridor, and it was well-supplied with alll the luxuries needed for a good soak and laundry if we so need. We had a great time recuperating from our drives, hikes and photo-trips around the region. In the morning we had the luxury of making drip coffee with the beans roasted by our hosts. Delicious coffee indeed. Sipping it on the balcony watching the four terries of the owners at play in the garden below.

Great location right next to the Shinkansen station. Quiet room, not issues at all.
The hostel has really nice interior in what feels like a euro-Japan mix, nice kitchen, small sofa area where you can sit and read or put up your laptop, very charming bathroom with Japanese bathtub. The bunk beds are big and spacious with lots of room for your luggage. The neighbourhood is nice with lots of coffee shops and restaurants, about a 30min walk from the big shopping district.
Great location if your main purpose is to visit the Himeji Castle, as it’s located 5min walking. The hostel is inside a shopping street market, very convenient to eat out or buy things. The main train and bus station are also close, just 10-15min walking. The bed was comfortable and private, the common areas were ok.
Easily in the top 3 of all the hostels I stayed at. Lovely vibe, cool staff and guests, very clean and charming hostel (I actually really liked the train noises). Private rooms are spacious and relatively cheap. This is what every hostel should aspire to be
It’s a guest house/hostel so of course your expectations should be set with that in mind. It was clean, interesting, good location, and the staff member was really kind. Compared to other hostels I’ve stayed in, the beds were very quiet. I’m a light sleeper so I was thankful for that. The bed was similar to a futon, which I prefer because it is what I sleep on in my apartment in Japan. I also felt safe as a solo female traveler. I recommend this place. If I go back to Kobe I’ll definitely stay again.
Small hostel on the side of the Chinese district. Nice, cheap and cozy - good access to the city center so location is a plus. The shower facilities were clean and good quality - though of course renting the bed in shared room it's not entirely private. Still I shared the room with only one other Japanese person and it was a pleasant and relaxing stay.
First of all the owner Sai is a great host and will help you with anything you need. She even took us to a hike in the mountains. The bar in the hostel is a great chillout place, you could also choose music if you like. Rooftop and big kitchen too. Also the location is near city center
Great hosts and in a great location, a short walk from the station in the middle of the town. Everything was perfect for our stay. Free onsen passes were included with the room which was a bonus, and they provided yukata and instruction on how to wear them and how to use the onsen. We didn't opt for meals during our stay, but they left us tea in our room each evening which was really nice.
Clean, great location very close to city center...conformable beds...Great host
The owner, Daichi, is such a nice host! He is a very well-travelled guy who loves to talk and share information with you! He knows all the places to eat at and places to visit in Kobe, that he and his wife made binders with detailed information in Japanese and English for guests. The guesthouse isn't the closest to the restaurants, but Kobe is so walkable that, you can easily get to kitano-cho and sannomiya areas on foot. If you're interested in going to the herb garden or hike to the waterfall, then this is a great location for you!
