Overall, we had an excellent stay.

Exceeded my expectations. The host was kind and welcoming. The accommodation was clean, spacious and felt homey. I stayed in a single room. The shared living area was comfortable, there was a tv with Netflix. The combined washer/dryer machine was awesome! It’s coin operated though so make sure you have Japanese coins, I think it only accepted 100 yens, best to confirm before you arrive.

The hosts were fluent in English, Chinese and Japanese, which made it possible for us to relax and feel our needs were understood. The place is beautifully outfitted, spotlessly clean, and very convenient.

The owner teleports in an instant to help you with any inquiry or question that you may have, will give you a short overview of Matsumoto and the surrounding areas and provide even more suggestions and where are the best spots to eat and visit depending on the season! He also took the extra mile to bring a translator device with him so communication is as smooth as possible. Everything that you need to do basic house chores is free of charge as long as he has it, oven, microwave, kettles, washing machines, dryer, TV, comfortable sofas, kitchenware, and etc., I felt so at home when I stayed here. (For the washing machine and dryer, you have to pay a couple of yen, around 100-400) What blew my mind the most is during at night, when you go outside the house at around 2-3AM the sky is just so full of stars! There's also a lot of crows in the morning so it's quite a show to behold. I would definitely recommend staying at this place, it's just a different wonderful experience in Japan where you stay and live like a local in the Japanese country side. Location wise is excellent as well as there's a mall called Aeon Mall just a few steps across, you can easily walk around from here to some restaurants, shopping areas and such, Nawate street is just a few walks away.

We are a family of 4 who stayed 6 nights during June in the family room with 4 beds and a wonderful view over the bay. The guesthouse is run by a very kind and generous young couple who do everything in their power to make the guests' stay as convenient as possible. The place is renovated, well organised and kept very clean. There is a lot of information about Shimoda, and different equipments and facilities are made available for different kinds of activities. The kitchen and the common space for dining, hanging and socializing is furnished tastefully and it also has a nice view over the bay. We met a lot of interesting people with whom we had a wonderful barbecue evening together with the hosts. I would recommend this place 100% to anyone visiting Shimoda. Our whole family is already missing this place.

Great facilities, everything new, modern and spotlessly clean. Huge wooden bunk beds in the dorms which are much more spacious than the usual hostel dorm beds. Perfect location on a main shopping street. Helpful, friendly staff and a nice common room to meet other guests. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and this is was perhaps my favourite ever in terms of comfort.

Located right in the middle of the pottery path (main attraction) Well equipped kitchen and family mart 3 minutes away.
