My partner and I stayed 1 week at the Sumatra Thomas Leaf monkey guesthouse and it is by far the highlight from all of our travels. All of the staff are so friendly and inviting and make you feel like family. They all go above and beyond to make your stay unforgettable. The accomodation is located just a short walk from town making everything easily accessible. We booked our trek with them also. We did the 2 nights and 3 day trek and were led by knowledgeable guides who customised the trek to our needs. We seen many orangutans, various monkeys, hornbills and other stunning wildlife. We are vegetarian and all the meals were delicious. Best of all the guides are passionate about the health and protection of the jungle and take all ethical measures seriously. We also booked a day trip through them to see the one of the largest flowers in the world. It was an experience that we will not forgot. It was an incredible experience!!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to visit Bukit Lawang.

Best place ever to chill and feel part of the jungle. I did not want to leave. The food is incredible and all the team are so friendly. Yuyun and Borja are the perfect hosts nothing is too much trouble, they booked us on a fantastic tour and everything they recommend was amazing. Yuyun is a great cook and the restaurant has a fantastic view as do the rooms.

I wasn’t there for long but definitely felt it was a good deal for the price. It is pretty far from the center of butik lawang. You can walk it in 20min or get a tuktuk for 30rp. The walk is nice. You get to see another side to the area.
