Tom and Rowena were incredibly accommodating and kind. They greeted us upon arrival and had bought specific ingredients for breakfast to cater to our dietary needs. We were visiting for the marathon and they even offered to get up early to prepare a meal for us. The room was beautiful and cleaned daily. The breakfast was delicious (especially Rowena's homemade sourdough!). I could not recommend the Sheridan Guest House enough and will definitely be back if I visit Edinburgh again.

The breakfast each morning was something we looked forward to each day. It was restaurant quality (wife asked for a recipe) and the soft background music (personal note here) was spot on. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The property is located near a bus stop, so getting around isn’t an issue. Lastly, it’s a 2 minute (max) skip down to the beach. It’s one block away.

Could not rate this guesthouse and it's host highly enough and we are so sad to be leaving so soon.

The place has such a charm to it thanks to Elisabeth who is an absolutely unforgettable host in every positive way:) we got engaged in Portree a week after and stay at Elisabeth's beautiful house just made the whole trip absolutely perfect from the beginning to the end❤️

Edinburgh Castle is 20 km from the guest house and Hopetoun House is 20 km away. Lorna was an amazing host. In general, accommodation around Edinburgh is quite expensive so we found this place which was relatively affordable compared to other places and had a high rating. It is a house-turned-b&b, has 3 small rooms and a nice small dining room. Everything was super clean and Lorna was the friendliest host we have ever met. She gives you a small form to fill every night to get your breakfast preferences and time to eat. Her cooking is lovely. Definitely recommend her full Scottish breakfast with Haggis. She cooked the best haggis out of the 3 restaurants we tried. The only downside was that the place is quite far from the city (45 min bus ride - take X27) and there is only one bus that goes there but if you catch it and don't mind the travel time, it is definitely worth a stay.

A quiet retreat if you want to just relax & reflect . Close to Edinburgh ( 20 minute train ride ) for a day trip from Glenarch House . Would recommend the train to Waverley station in Edinburgh . It’s a self catering property , so will need to work out meals for yourselves . Morrisons ( a supermarket) is relatively close for grocery shopping .
