We loved staying at Luxman’s guesthouse. Luxman is a sweetheart and gave us lots of tips for transport and eating cheap. His guesthouse is simple but has everything you need plus more. It’s situated just off the busy central street of Polonnaruwa. Luxman provided us free bikes to explore the amazing Polonnaruwa ruins (cycling was a really enjoyable way to explore it). He also provides a washing machine to use for free. So convenient. We would recommend this guesthouse to anyone exploring the area or stopping for a night.

The structure is relatively new and the common spaces are tidy. The view from the terrace used for breakfast is beautiful (looking onto rice fields). The breakfast is good, abundant and cheap.

great hosts who helped us with cycle hire for the ancient city and onward transport. The property is tucked away from the main road so is quiet but close to the ancient city entrance. Very reasonably priced for what you get.
The guest house is a great location, just down the road from the ancient city and I rented a bike to go and explore it.
Food was amazing from the host, some of the best I had in Sri Lanka. I would definitely recommend a stay. Especially as a solo traveller it was a nice break for two nights.

Very cute, family run guest house close to the ruins. Lovely hosts, quiet, terrific breakfast (and dinner with much-needed beer upon request). Highly recommended.
The location of the guest house is great. You can also rent bikes there (they are in good shape and cheaper than in other locations). We also ate dinner there and it was one of the best meals we had on Sri Lanka. They could also arrange safari tour as the host owns the jeep.

Me and my partner stayed for 2 nights at Devi. The home cooked dinners in the evening were some of the best we had in Sri Lanka and very reasonable - highly recommend! Breakfast was a little more basic but plenty of toast and fresh fruit. We rented Bikes from the hosts to visit the ancient city which was great. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly and helped arranged transportation when we checked out. Theres a beautiful lake not too far from the guesthouse which we walked to by foot. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.
