It’s a traditional Japanese cabin in the mountains. The shoji screens and the zen garden made it a really relaxing and cozy visit. One of my favorite accommodations through my journey in Japan. They have WiFi, and a modern toilet. The kitchen is a bit old and not up to modern standards but it works just fine.
If you want a place away from the bustling cities, and really want to relax and also get a feel for an authentic Japanese cabin I can highly recommend it. Word of advice is to get food before you arrive as it is far from any stores, but I was informed of this before arrival so I had time to plan. The hostess was super friendly and very helpful
It’s an old cabin and it shows, don’t expect a newly renovated house, but it gave it an authentic feeling.
There’s also no AC, but with it being in the mountains and the shoji screens it didn’t get too hot at night.
Also the insects make a lot of noise
Wish I stayed more than one night

We had a great stay in this traditional little house ! Everything is clean, the kitchen is very well equipped, we loved the bathroom with a view of the surrounding fields and mountains. The family is lovely and has a great sense of hospitality. We will come back !

The son and mother running the guesthouse were wonderful. It's a beautiful location, and because it is fairly far from the station, the son picked us up in his van at the station. We did have to call him to get us (which we knew ahead of time), so it's important to have the capability to do so or otherwise arrange it with the guesthouse host. We thoroughly enjoyed the onsen at the hotel with included yukatas and our very spacious room (had a heater/AC as well!). The sheets and yukatas and towels were impeccably clean and pressed. The son and mother had a lovely cafe with free beverages downstairs, and they also had a wonderful breakfast we paid for in the morning. I feel this guesthouse is truly a hidden gem and highly recommend it to anyone considering it. Easily one of the best places I have stayed at in Japan. My husband and I were so charmed during the whole experience.

A lovely place run by lovely people. I liked the spacious room for the two of us, the veranda, the beautiful temple which we were introduced to. The morning chanting and bell ringing was a really profound start to the day, and all offered in the most low key way. Really loved this Amida temple. 🌞 ☔ It was great to be told about the super sento 10 minutes walk away. 💦 Thanks so much for your generosity with lifts and other help. 🌻
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Beautiful farm house, large, clean, full kitchen, laundry, the host had a steaming bath ready on arrival with lovely hot tea! Also a free gift from their garden!
Superb hosts and a lovely house, also great value!
Excellent stay at this beautiful guest house during our cycle around Lake Biwa! It's an absolute gem of a place. The property itself is very well maintained, with traditional features throughout (such as the tatami room and the Kotatsu in the living room). The owners were extremely friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would love to come back! Highly recommended.
Host was hospitable and friendly. Onsen usually closed in the morning but he offered to open upon request from 6am to 8am. Room was clean and spacious.
Booked the tiny villa with 2 rooms, 1 bath and 1 toilets. Spacious for a family with one young child.
The Omi Nakasho train station is 2 minutes walk from the place. JR train will take you straight to Kyoto/Osaka.
Host (Wen) is a darling. She picked us up from Hakodateyama Ski Resort when we missed the last bus. She then took us to get something from the supermarket near Omi Imazu train station. Thank you so much!
We cycled to Lake Biwa (5min bike ride) in the morning. Lovely morning ride!
Would visit again.
The guesthouse is located around mountains area. Is totally away from the city and facilities. The guesthouse is like traveling back time. Very traditional guesthouse. Fresh air and very quiet surrounding. You can just walk around the area and enjoy the peace. We are even been treated with Purin (プリン) by the host before we said goodbye.
Me and my brother was there for a night to go snowboarding at hakodateyama ski resort. The host family is so nice and kind. The room is exceptional and very clean. The bathroom is beautiful. And great location.
