The host is very nice to take care of our staying. Very nice vegan breakfast and dinner. Introducing the local activities which we can attend. Let us know the weather in case we can avoid the raining. Let us know the bus schedule. Anyway, im so appreciated what the host did....nice warmly coming house.

I liked everything. Tommy and his wife were very friendly he showed us the places to visit on a map and specific times when events happen, he told us a place to eat at night as most restaurants only open during the day, There cafe next door is well worth visiting it's a lovely little cafe with great food and drinks, well worth staying here instead of staying in the temples far better value for your money.

Above and beyond any expectations we had: if you want to travelling on a budget but still want to stay in the beautiful Koyasan, Hachi Hachi is the place for you. We have been travelling through Japan for few weeks now, and this has been the best night of sleep I had on a Ryokan Japanese bed style. The room is huge, fantastic view of the mountains around, perfect spot where I worked from early morning from my laptop, high tech room, great quality breakfast, all you need for the best stay in Koyasan!
A Buddhist temple lodging accommodation, 高野山 宿坊 熊谷寺 -Koyasan Shukubo Kumagaiji- lies amid mountains in the sacred Koyasan area.

It was a great experience, the monks were very kind, the place quiet and peaceful, perfect after a tour in crowdy Osaka! Also the dinner and breakfast were a great occasion to know their way of life, and so the prayers in the morning!

The accomodation is located in a beautiful street with many historical buildings. Shogo is a great host who could recommend nearby restaurants and helped us with luggage forwarding. All in all we had a pleasant stay, can definetly recommend Satsuki.

We were picked up at Hashimoto station. Quick 30 min drive through beautiful nature. Breakfast and dinner were more than excellent. Lovely atmosphere. Nicest hosts. We felt so welcome. Peaceful place to relax after travelling the big cities of Japan. Comfortable bedroom. Lots of space. Lots of privacy. Beautiful view, beautiful scenery. Very calm neighbourhood. Highly recommend to everyone travelling this beautiful country.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The monastery is located in a charming place, opposite the largest temples of Koyasan. It is traditional and tasty. Very clean. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. There is peace and quiet there.
Great hosts, good location, very clean and comfortable. Lucky to have their restaurant on site for dinner - one of nicest meals we had in Japan - that is, home cooked by Guest House owner, an outstanding chef.
Very friendly and accommodating hosts! The guest house was at a great location (very close to the bus stop and a convenience store) and the family room was very spacious and clean. Would definitely stay here again and I highly recommend it if you are not planning to do a temple stay at Koyasan! I also highly recommend visiting the cafe - great croissants and drinks!
Great location right in the heart of koyasan town. Very convenient to walk to any attractions nearby.
Room facilities are up to bar with some 2-3 star hotel I have been to.
Tommy is a super friendly host. He recommends a lot of great local experiences from places to have dinner to different trekking trails and temple rituals you can attend for free.
Tommy and his wife run a cafe next door and it’s open from 8am which is a rare thing in koyasan (most shops open at 11am). You get a big discount if you stay at Tommy guest house too ❤️
Tommy Guest House is one of the few guesthouses in Koyasan and certainly the best.
Our room was very well equipped as described and quite big.
Everything was extremely clean, there were clean towels, new water and tea on the second day.
The guesthouse is just a few steps away from the bus stop in the center of Koyasan.
Tommy is such a warm and courteous host. The contact before our stay was always quick and super nice.
A clear recommendation!
A wonderful Guesthouse in a quieter part of Koyasan but within easy walking distance to all the major attractions. Extremely clean and tidy with large shared living spaces. Conveniently located close to the only Family Mart in town, a bus stop and a little park. Nori, the host, is most helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. I highly recommend Hachi Hachi.
Great guest house, big rooms. very clean. the shared bathrooms were comfortable and very clean. Great host who gave a lot of advice and help. clear communication beforehand to arrive there
Very helpful, thoughtful, and friendly host. The apartment was very clean. The host clearly paid attention to all details when designing the guest house, rooms, and facilities. Great location close to a bus stop, a convenient store, and good restaurants. Breakfast was nice.
We love our stay at Guest House Suzumeno Kakurembo! Our hosts were so friendly, funny and welcoming! Our room was spotless clean(!), spacious and super cosy! Heating is available (it can get really cold in Koyasan at night) and we also had a water dispenser (hot/cold) in our room which was soo convenient! They also have a restaurant with amazing food!
We recommend this guesthouse!
Thank you so much for your hospitality!
