Montescaglioso is a charming and authentic town worth a visit by it's own. It is also a good base to go to Matera, Craco or even to the sea.
Regarding the accomodation: there wasn't a single thing wrong. The room was big, the bed was comfortable (on the firmer side, just as I like) and big enough for my 199 cm long body. Everything was very clean.
The parking lot is guite big and is right behind the building. It can be crowded at times, but we have always found a spot. To reach the property by car, you need to drive trough most of Montescaglioso. The only good way is trought Piazza Roma and then Corso dela Republicca. We were provided good instructions before our arrival.
Last but not least: Antonio, the host is a very nice and helpful person. He even escorted us to a car repair shop to have our tire presure checked.
Great experience, we hope to be back some time.

Very warm welcome from the owner with lots of information for a great visit to Matera. We could check in at 10.45am and they greeted us and helped us park.
Good location, only a 20 minute stroll from the historic town. The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Really appreciated the breakfast.

One of the most interesting locations I have ever stayed in., A series of beautifully converted caves really gives you the best way to enjoy the atmosphere of Matara, only 2 minutes from the main street. The conversion has been well done and all facilities are available, good continental breakfast and very friendly host and staff. Rooms very clean. Recommendation - take a small suitcase as parking is restricted and they easier to wheel around up and down the steps.

The host Leo and his family have created a wonderful spot. We love the atmosphere of this place.The big advantage is the restaurant that is run by the hosts. We came in the evening, so we could enjoy the night with the karaoke and feel the real italian hospitality. Room was cozy and nice. Leo is a wonderful and helpful person. He welcomed us nicely and gave us good tips for local sightseeing.
This is a lovely apartment in the centre of the town and quite quiet. The kitchen is small but enough to prepare a meal. The roof terrace is delightful even though it was too windy for a sunshade. The hosts are very nice and helpful.
It’s an entire apartment with two rooms, a kitchen, a large bathroom and a third room on the upper floor/mansarde. Veey well equipped, the bed is comfortable, the whole apartment was very clean and it’s recently renovated. Our hosts welcomed us with some focaccia as we arrived quite late - a small gesture but it was very nice of them.

Location is in a bit local side but the environment around the facility is very good to make us relax. We felt we should stay a few more days here. Will absolutely come back when we visit south Italy.
Stunning location, it was the most peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was really friendly, so was the sweet dog Rita :-) we really enjoyed the mandarin room and the early morning and late evening swims with fantastic view. Also dinner in the restaurant on property was lovely. Breakfast was perfect. The ride to Villa Rita was beautiful, quiet roads full of nature, olive trees and vineyards. Thank you ❤️
