We are so pleased we chose Saxonis Houses for our stay in Papigo. Vasilis, our host, couldn't be kinder or more helpful, packing us generous breakfasts to take away on our day hikes (we set off too early to make the sit-down breakfast times) and making sure we got back safely at the end of each day. Oct 2023. Staff and owners were hard-working, caring and always on-site. Location is very quiet and has a nice view of the surrounding mountains with a spacious scenic patio for al fresco dining and relaxing. Breakfast was a wholesome start for my hiking activities and the bathtub was an appreciated finish. Dinner cooking was great and reasonably priced. Hotel kindly arranged a reasonable-cost taxi transport from Ioannina to and from the hotel and followed up to make sure I was picked up on schedule (big help!) Perfect hiking base for ascending to Astraka Mountain Hut and descending to Vikos Gorge.
