It is a very thoughtfully built space in the backyard of the host, very compact though. The place and the host Marcia had very good vibes. The friendly dogs and cats of the host were an additional bonus.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Booked to stay over here as we were going to download festival. Hosts were really helpful, allowed to check in earlier than expected and gave us great advice as to how to make our way to the festival. Lovely property, very clean and lovely surrounding area.
Homely feel that you don’t get in hotels, and the facilities were modern with great showers in particular 😀
Very close to canal with lovely long walks along town paths. Fantastic freshly cooked breakfast. Lovely host.
Great location between the River Trent and the Trent & Mersey Canal for a canal-side walk and visit a few local pubs and restaurants.
Lovely welcome by hosts, our room was spacious, very clean and had a marvelous view of the Trent flowing by.
Breakfast was great, we would recommend the Holden House and will be returning there in the very near future
Good location near the canal and river Trent. Hotel and hostess were charming. We spent one night here on the way north and were very surprised by Shardlow. Lovely evening walks along the tow path with good pubs to visit.
