Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Nice and cosy cabin in a private garden, peaceful, quiet and well-equipped. Anne, our host was very friendly and helpful, suggested places to visit, gave us a lift when we needed (there was a railway strike), and left kind little surprises around the house for us. We really felt like home. Thank you!
A modern, welcoming guesthouse. Everything was perfectly looked after, and our hosts were so friendly and helpful, but we also still felt that we had our privacy - important as a young(ish) couple who don’t often stay in English guesthouse!! Breakfast was generous and tasty, with flexibility provided for, and we also made use of the offer of a packed lunch which was great when we were out and about on the fells.
Lovely breakfast, really friendly hosts who gave us a warm welcome, oh and the stunning location. Lovely quiet part of Cumbria that often gets overlooked, great for a quiet getaway for some chill out time.
Beautiful cabin and a charming village with everything the Lake District has to offer close to hand. Friendly hosts and clear communication - altogether a great experience. If you are having to work the wifi is a little intermittent but hopefully you're just there to relax!
