The room was clean and very warm. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. Plenty of parking spaces. The inn is very historic, and in a lovely village not very far from Barnard Castle.

Honestly this was a fabulous stay from start to finish. We stayed on a busy Saturday night but despite how busy it was every single member of staff was warm, welcoming, and couldn't do enough for us. We were checked in quickly, our room was a little warm but the windows opened and we could turn the radiator off so soon was at a more comfortable temperature. The room was big, clean and the bed was super comfortable. The food was amazing, the choice was massive and when we finally decided what we wanted we were not dissapointed! We had the beef in ale pie and sweet and sour chicken....but all the other meals on the surrounding tables looked just as good! Breakfast was another high point, so accommodating for picky eaters like myself, and a big enough brekkie for satisfy the other half. Can't wait to revisit this little gem of a place

Ideal location, easy to park near for free. Owner met and briefed as advertised. We will stay again.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
Ease of finding the place, and location was lovely and easy reach of Darlington. Plenty of Parking and full use of the house is a great idea. The host was on hand to show me what's what and made me feel really welcome.
The room was great with all the amenities you would need and the WIFI is very useful although mobile signal for me was no issue. The book with all the information of what you can use in the house and nearby taxi's pubs etc was very useful.
Quaint old fashioned farmhouse.
The host was really helpful. Our room was upgraded for free after booking.com sold the room twice. He communicated well, ensuring we could enjoy our stay.
Bottles of wine in the room plus tea & biscuits was a nice touch.
Callum is an amazing host. His home is beautiful, full of of charm and history. So cosy, warm and has a relaxing feel about the house. Every effort is made to make your stay perfect. Nothing is too much effort. You have full use of a well stocked and large kitchen. There are snacks and breakfast items in a fridge available to use. Great value for money.
We will definitely be visiting again. 😊
