The Waterfront was a delightful and very convenient place to stay. The view over the foreshore and bay is stunning, but. Unfortunately we didn't see any otters during our stay, which we'd hoped to.
The location was great for us as we used it as base to visit the historical sites most of which are on the western side of Mainland.
Kim was a lovely host. There was more than enough food on offer to make a continental breakfast (and we did use the egg boiler successfully one day). And the facilities are sufficient to heat up a ready meal in the evening if you want.
The bedroom was a lovely place to relax.

Nice clean comfortable accommodation with excellent garden/outdoor facilities. Although we did not meet the owner they kept in touch throughout the booking process and provided details in respect to arrival procedure and how to access them if there were any problems.
Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The hosts were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. The guest house is a perfect starting point for trips to Orkney's many fascinating and beautiful sights.
Decent breakfast cooked to order. Charming old building with history. Great location in a quiet part of town, 5-min walk into the centre along a delightful small street. Shower surprisingly powerful. Our few encounters with the staff were good. Lovely breakfast room.
Great location a short walk from everything in Kirkwall on a quiet street; accommodation was very comfortable & host provided useful local information.
Very quiet at night. Nice dining/ hanging area with good kitchen supplies. Laundry facilities were clean and easily available, with a line to hang clothes in the fresh Kirkwall air. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Great hostel stay! Bit of a walk into town, but then again who doesn't love a brisk Scottish stroll?
The Sanderlay Guest House offered good value for money. It’s not right in City Centre. So it didn’t cost a fortune. But it was close enough for our Rabbies tour van to be willing to drop us off & pick us up. It was only a £5 taxi ride to our dinner location. Our room was comfortable & clean. The full Scottish breakfast was delicious & efficiently delivered with their preset menu selection & breakfast time. Our host was very welcoming & had a great sense of humour. We would definitely go back there
Absolutely fabulous hosts in a perfect quiet area of kirkwall. Out of the centre but a short walk to the centre of kirkwall. Accommodation was spotless and very well presented. Breakfast was delicious. Will definitely stay there again. Highly recommend karrawa guest house
Charming and helpful hosts. A very clean and quiet house and a very nice guest room. Its only a short walk into town and the ferry. A nice breakfast. Easy parking. It would be nice to go again.
As soon as we got there it was obvious the hosts take pride in their bed and breakfast, the whole accommodation was clean and tidy. The hosts were incredibly generous and cheerful. It is a little bit out of town but if you don't mind a 25 minute walk (if you want a couple drinks with dinner), it is well worth it for the lovely stay, quiet surroundings and lovely views.
Breakfast is excellent! We enjoyed fresh fruits and yogurt as well as scrambled eggs and smoked salmon👍 Very hospitable landlady and quiet location on the top of hill area with beautiful harbor view. Walkable distance to the city center (about 30 mins).
Excellent host, nicely decorated rooms, very good breakfast (and even better coffee), tidy and clean, charming ambiente, well situated in Kirkwall for a quick tour to the city center
