The Red Lion Tavern, hotel in Fochabers

Located just 14 km from Elgin Cathedral, The Red Lion Tavern provides accommodation in Fochabers with access to a bar, a shared lounge, as well as a housekeeping service.

This is a bit of hidden gem as it just looks like a shop front from the street but all the rooms are in a unit behind the bar. My room was very large and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and breakfast service was excellent. If you are a light sleeper be aware that the town clock in Fochabers rings clear and true every hour :) Greenacres Coffee Shop next door is worth a mention as well - good coffee and cakes

Abbeyfield B&B, hotel in Fochabers

Situated in Dufftown, in a historic building, 22 km from Huntly Castle, Abbeyfield B&B is a guest house with a garden and shared lounge.

This is more than B&B! The elegant house has been beautifully renovated to provide a luxurious stay for guests. Our bedroom was lovely; huge comfortable bed, two armchairs and a great walk-in shower. Kira was keen that we made ourselves at home. There is a lovely garden to relax in (and make a BBQ if you wish) a very comfortable living room and a dining room where you can chill your own drinks and accommodate eating a takeaway meal for dinner (cutlery and crockery provided). Breakfast choices are more like high-end hotel and prepared lovingly. We really appreciated a more relaxed breakfast time up to 9:30am who doesn’t like a little lie-in on holiday? This place was a great find and made the Speyside leg of our Scotland Grand Tour just that little bit more special. A memorable stay.
