Domaine de L'Estuaire is in the countryside surrounded by small villages and vineyards where the pace of life is slow. You need a car to explore the area. The property has been restored, but the features are not in keeping with the original style. For example, one of the bedroom walls was painted in dark green, and the other one in a burgundy colourl. The bathroom appliances are modern but the decoration throughout lacks an identity. Its basic. The beds are very comfortable and the room has the basics. The paintings on the wall are a little redundant. A bit of investment in decor could lead to charging higher prices for the accommodation, as the room we stayed at was spatious, but lacking in charm. Small details could make a huge difference and make the environment more inviting. The garden is big, but looked a bit unkept in places, the statue at the entrance is a lovely feature but again needs more work to get it to the next level. The hosts were very helpful with suggestions on places to eat and plenty of leaflets of the surrounding area. The breakfast was basic with only one choice of boiled eggs. Its ok for the prize, but needs a bit of investment in places especially around the garden and indoor decoration. The sea is 30 min away so not for people wanting a beach at their fingertips.

By far the best welcome we've had in years of traveling. We immediately felt as if staying with old friends and the vibe throughout the stay was of relaxed holidays. The rooms are very confortable and clean with a fun mix of old and new. The location is extremely quiet and peaceful. The hosts are fantastic and take care of their guests like family. I can't recommend this place enough if you wish for a calm stay between vineyards.

Our stay at Philippe's in Saint-Thomas-de-Conac couldn't have been better. The room was impeccably clean with a super comfy bed, and Philippe, the most friendly host you could ask for, provided everything we needed. We loved the beautiful house and backyard, perfect for relaxation, and the delicious meals Philippe and his wife prepared made our evenings unforgettable. Highly recommended!

We are on a cycling holiday and the hosts were very happy to lock our bike away for us. They were a very friendly couple who contacted us before hand to offer a 3 course dinner which we were very pleased that we accepted as the food was excellent and well worth the price.
