Setcases is a beautiful village and the hotel is in the perfect setting opposite the river and forest. I couldn’t fault the place and the staff were really lovely and helpful.
We had breakfast as part of our deal, typically Catalan and lots of it plus as much coffee (lovely coffee) as you wanted. We were there to hike so the breakfast filled us for the day. Setcases is the perfect place to hike from, loads of beautiful trails into the wonderful upland meadows and mountains. When we visited everyone was out foraging for mushrooms and the day we left, Setcases was getting ready to host a mushroom festival. If you like cycling you might want to try the Vallter 2000. We went to hike from the Vallter carpark but weren’t prepared for the bitterly cold wind and settled for a walk lower down the valley.
Setcases and the hotel has a real community feel to it, I liked it a lot.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
The location is fabulous, between two historic villages, stone houses! Perfect after you've climbed Valter or hit a few routes! It's a wonderful atmosphere, and the view takes your breath away. You can sit for hours looking at the wonderful valley that opens in front of you. The food is fabulous, in the purest and most authentic Catalan style. The host, Rosa, is a unique presence and yes a touch of color to the entire stay. All the staff are ok, and Xavi, the best! I'm waiting to return, to this place dear to me, downright idyllic!
