They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.

Yanire the host very friendly and helpful, Highly recommend
the place.
A lovely small pension right in the heart of the town with a good little wine bar / restaurant just around the corner that seemed to be run by the same people (check-in was done there). Breakfast was excellent and the lady serving was very helpful with local information & advice, plus the food was delicious!
Clean and modern albergue. Well maintained with a helpful and friendly host. Put all of our group in the same room after a long day’s walking. Fully stocked kitchen for cooking in the day/evening.
Lovely room and bathroom, very nicely furnished. Quiet. Great location. Very nice reception from owner. Good value especially compared with other private rooms available.
Great location with a supermarket across the road for self catering if needed. Very recent facility, nicely maintained. Beds with individual lights and power. Real sheets and a bonus of a real towel (these comments relate to the hostel dormitory section). Pretty complete kitchen, enough to prepare meals. Washer dryer available and working, enough clothes airers to hang clothes to dry. Good staff interaction.
