Casanaga is one of maybe a handful of hostels around the world that I've been to (several dozens) that has really left nothing to be desired at all.
First of all, the surrounding area and nature is nothing short of breathtaking! Several not crowded beaches at walking distance, which are also popular and pretty good for surfing (although maybe less so for beginners). The mountains in the back offer great hikes with stunning views for all levels and desires. The town is a bit sleepy, which I consider a nice change from the hustle and bustle elsewhere on the island. Here you are actually more likely to bump into a local (or a bunch of cats) than into other tourists.
The hostel itself isn't huge, so it has a really personal atmosphere to it. You quickly stop to feel like a guest and rather become a (new) friend with everybody around, including the staff. Ollie the owner (a genuinely nice guy and true character) is present almost all day and looking after many of the things himself. He and the whole lovely crew have given so much thought into nearly every detail. They are super organised (cards accepted!), yet still relaxed and flexible enough for individual requests and wishes (reasonable ones). The breakfast is really big and varied and the optional dinners are just fantastic and very fairly priced. They keep a small selection of drinks that includes surprisingly good wines (both red and white), again at reasonable prices. Beds are huge and comfortable (for hostel standards), facilities are really clean, the kitchen is big and has all one could wish for. There is enough space and hangers for everybody's things plus a big desk for digital nomads or people who still need to organise parts of their trip or work on something else. The highlight is probably the rooftop terrace where also the meals are served, with a wonderful view over the coastline.

One very helpful and intelligent staff member, as one might expect from the Euskadi. Cheap, quieter than the awful hostel I had come from. Some trees and vegetation on the grounds and a pool.

Warm and welcoming guest houses are ideal for travellers who prefer unfussy accommodation with a personal touch. They are usually family-run, and your host will provide local recommendations and optional meals. Often cheaper than regular hotels, guest houses can also feature a cosy living room and a garden.
That place deserve more. Outstanding views, nice very equipped kitchen. You can feel here same as people in nearby villages lives. Very friendly host :)
Had a wonderful stay at Casanaga. It's located in a very calm little village. The location is perfect for hiking or just relaxing at the beach nearby.
The hostel has a very chill vibe. Ollie the volunteers make it feel like home right away and I wished I could have stayed longer. Let me tell you that the place is worth a visit for the view from the terrace alone.
Thanks 🙏 I hope to be back soon.
Everything! Could get a good sleep with having a comfortable mattress and sounds of the ocean.
Great location with 15 mins walk to the beach.
Absolutely beautiful view!
A lot of fun and plans organised by the host for guests.
Ollie was very helpful from the moment I booked the place, giving info on how to get there without a car and any other questions that I had.
What a place! Super friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect place for solo travellers if you’d like to hang out with people for a bit (if not, you can easily find a quiet place). Breakfast and dinners were amazing. The location is perfect, you can walk down to the beach in few minutes. The views from the hostel are crazy. The hostel is full of entertainment if you’re looking for some. I can’t express how perfect that place is, one of the best hostels I’ve been to and definitely a special one!
I recently stayed at this hostel and it was truly amazing. The atmosphere is inspiring, filled with beautiful people and positive energy. Doing yoga with the music of the ocean in the background was an unforgettable experience. The breakfast on the terrace was fantastic, and the dinners led to great conversations. The place is impeccably clean, well-organized, and quiet at night. It's the perfect starting point to discover the wonders of Anaga. Highly recommended!
Wonderful place for people who enjoy quiet places and going trekking. There are a lot of nice routes around and a very nice beach (Playa de Benijo) not too far away. The apartment was very clean (impressively so) and spacious with everything you would need. We did not get to meet the host for very long but he seemed like a very nice person (it's better if you can speak a bit of Spanish).
Liked the quiet location, quaint village setting, very rural and picturesque. We had fabulous sea and mountain views from the terrace of the apartment we had booked. Comfortable and nicely decorated place. Some nice restaurants nearby you can walk to but it is very hilly, they can be reached by car. And there is a small village shop for the essentials.
