The host is really awesome. I first came across the pension by chance when riding the Altmühltal several years back. it was high season and everything was booked, but Mrs. Holzapfel had one spare room she let me use. My wife and I have been back several times and love the pension, the location, the pretty little town…I could go on and on! Plus I got some insight on bird watching from Mr. Holzapfel!

The staff was extremely friendly. The dinner in the restaurant was delicious. The wine and beer menu was exceptional. The breakfast was very good, with fresh food and very rich in variation. The stay exceeded our expectations!

Wonderful, peaceful, friendly sanctuary. Beautiful location on the bank of the river. Rooms are lovely and very clean. The restoration of the building is of very high quality with great attention to detail. Wifi is super fast. There are beautiful walks around the area, all the way to the neighbouring town Kelheim. There is even a ferryman who takes you to the other side of the river for 2 euros! Resturant has excellent food and is well priced in my opinion. There is a brewery in the monastery and the Barock Dunkel beer is particularly delicious. When coming back from my walk, a monk stopped and helped us with directions, very friendly and so nice. I originally booked two nights but ended up staying for three.

Property is 5 minutes by bike to city center just across the bridge. It is very clean, well supplied and well cared for. Staff/owner are very helpful. We prepared our meals and the kitchen has ample space and furnishings. Bedroom is spacious for 2. A storage room for our bicycles was convenient and safe.
