Lainston House, hotel in Southampton

This elegant 17th-century country house hotel in Winchester stands in 63 acres of beautiful Hampshire parkland.

The property is meant to be impressive and so it is, you are paying for the building and the lawn in front. Best part is having a drink outside with view of impressive lawn but you don’t have to stay here to enjoy that. I would not stay here again.

The only thing that disappointed me was that it was rated 4 stars. It should be 5 stars. The place was pure excellence. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. They catered for all your needs. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a wedding on the Saturday I was there and the guests just left the children to run a muck which was terrible. But fare due to the staff they were very sympathetic and understanding. The food was beautiful. And I can honestly say it was a pleasure staying there. Mr Russell Morgan

The room and ensuite were very clean and well equipped, 5 stars. The restaurant was again, nicely furbished. We had an evening meal and although not cheap, the food was excellent. Likewise, the waiters were brilliant. Breakfast the following morning was equally good as was the service.

The hotel was absolutely first class, the staff were so well trained and Five star London standard. Even the pillows were luxurious, normally in hotels they are big and hard. The rooms were spotless, a superb stay. We are coming back. Well done everyone you were amazing.
