For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
It was the perfect place for us on the last day of our holiday in Britain, because we left by ferry the next day and the port in North Shields is just a 20 minutes drive away. The farm is lovely and quiet and you get to know the dogs, horses and donkeys, who are all very nice. Of course ours hosts Jon and Trish were also very friendly and nice:-) Next time we're in the area, we have to stay longer.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Holywell Grange Farm. Everyone we met was lovely and welcoming. The animals are amazing and well taken care of the dogs especially make sure you’re enjoying your stay. Will definitely return soon
Brilliant in every way possible. Facilities are uncomplicated and everything is there. Comfy beds The room was perfectly clean with a shower, toilet, tv kettle and fridge. The hosts even left us coffee, tea, snacks and fresh milk.
The magic was meeting the animals on the farm and being made to feel so welcome. Can't wait to return .
We were on a farm, with horses in the barn and three lovely dogs running around. The owning couple was exceptionally welcoming and friendly, connecting with me through the arrival day and even guiding me by phone to the location (Google Maps did not find it easily).
Stayed 2 nights to enable me to run the Great North Run. Comfortable room in wonderful farm house set in pleasant rural location with super friendly and helpful staff (John & Trish). 3 friendly and well behaved dogs made it feel homely along with the horses and donkey. Plenty of parking space and access to the metro which will take you to the centre of Newcastle and also on a pleasant journey along the coast which is well worth exploring. Very enjoyable stay Thanks David from Bristol.
