For travellers in search of an experience, nothing says authentic country-living like a stay at a private, working farm. Hosts may offer interactive kid-friendly activities or, for couples, a cosy haven in an original/converted farmhouse. Breakfast is often included — you may be collecting the eggs yourself!
Rye Hill Farm is a lovely B&B! A little rough around the edges, but that's what you'd expect from a rural location. The setting is really quirky and it was so nice to be able to walk around a working farm - definitely a first for us!
The bedroom and bathroom was on the small side but had absolutely everything we needed.
As for the breakfast - it was fantastic. Freshly made with fresh eggs from the farm - plus freshly made bread - what more could you ask for?
We weren't here long- just the one night while we visited friends in nearby Hexham as part of a longer trip. I wish it had been longer. Judging by the adjacent camping facility, it is obviously popular with ramblers and hikers, and I would have loved to have walked a few miles. It is located in a beautiful quiet corner of the country, in an old farmhouse. Our room was well appointed and comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate. I can recommend it.
Comfortable clean and welcoming. So quiet and a lovely area to stay. Breakfast was fabulous and homemade breads, jams etc. Elizabeth the host was so lovely. Thank you. Great value and rural farm setting was perfect.
Elizabeth was welcoming and the accommodation was clean, spacious, bright and comfortable. The property is located in an extremely quiet, rural hill farm. Breakfast was excellent, made with what looked like home grown or locally scoured ingredients.
The owner/host Elizabeth looked after us very well and in particular the breakfasts were excellent. A very good base for exploring the area. A great farmhouse b&b. Good value for money.
We found for a family group of 7 North Farm was ideal in terms of space, massive garden and outdoor seating, very comfortable sitting room and bedrooms. It was good to have two ensuites and the main bathroom was modern. Also the house retained a lot of its farmhouse character which for us was a big plus factor. We loved it and would happily return.
Charmingly rustic farmhouse but with modern bathroom and en-suites. The kids loved the piano. Milk in the fridge and brioche in a basket for first breakfast was appreciated.
Elizabeth was very welcoming and because we were coming for a wedding at nearby Healey Barn she kindly offered us a much earlier check in. This was perfect and very helpful.
The location is a bit off the beaten track but not far from Corbridge or Hexham and beautiful countryside and the farm is in a rural very scenic setting. Breakfast was excellent, full English but loved the fruit with yogurt as well and the delicious homemade brown bread. Also good parking. Attractive clean room and en suite with walk in shower and large comfortable bed.
