The accommodation offers full-day security, a concierge service and currency exchange for guests. I didn't expect so luxury accommodation in this part of world. It was like oasis in the desert. Lorette and Christophe are great hosts, thank you again.

Set in Mar Lodj, Nguel du Saloum - Chez Abdou et Mar features accommodation with seating area. With quiet street views, this accommodation provides a balcony. The guest house offers an African restaurant as well as free WiFi. Mar and her husband Abdou are great hosts who really make you feel welcome from the heart! We stayed for a whole week with them and felt like being at home :) They provide you with all the info you need and organize a smooth transport from Dakar to their place for the guests (if needed) at a fair price. Mar Lodj is a great chance to experience real Senegalese country side life and the Sahel. It is an island in the river delta and the four villages on the island are well worth visiting. Many excursions and activities are possible and all can be organized by Mar and her family and nice bathing spots on the river-delta (good for swimming in clean water!) can be reached in only a few minutes. The accomodation provides full board if you like and always has cool drinks at hand which is great in the often hot climate in the afternoon. Nguel du Saloum is built with in traditional courtyard style with has a cozy feeling - so lying in one of the hammocks or on a sofa in the open air living room in the shade is just great any time! Solar panels insure constant power supply and we highly respect the effort Mar and Abdou went/go through in order to supply such a nice accomodation in a place where supply of goods and infrastructure can be really limited at times! (transport on the island is by horse-carriage (great!) as there are no roads (wonderful, no car horns, no traffic fumes and jams!) - just to give you an idea ) Thanks again for everything, Mar and Abdou and we hope that many more people find their way to your wonderful place! It is really worth visiting and we truly hope to come back again to see you again at Nguel du Saloum in the future (with "el musculator" of course :)!

Céline's place is excellent - located in the fairly large village of Toubakouta, close to the border with the Gambia, and sitting right on the Sine Saloum Delta. The rooms are large and comfortable, equipped with Mosquito nets, showers and plenty of storage space. The atmosphere around the lodge is relaxed and comfortable, with communal spaces for sitting and chatting, playing games (also provided) and taking meals together. The food is also very good, with fresh bread from the local bakery, homemade jams, juices and yogurt and even some Korean options. There are numerous activities to take part in, easy to choose from from a 'a la carte' book (in Both English and French). This includes things like boats or kayaks in the Delta, guided tours of the region on foot or bike, as well as more surprising options like Tai Chi, African Drumming or lessons on cookery. We took part in a day-long trip with local guide Doudou (who is also excellent) on the water to some of the island and villages in the Delta, and it was fantastic as we got to lunch together with some local people in the Senegalese style. If you're not sure what you would like to do, there's Céline can also help guide you and many of the choices can be arranged at fairly short notice, meaning it's perfectly possible to show up with no plans and just take it from there. Finally, its also worth mentioning that Céline and her husband Gilles who run the Keur Niaye, are also well-known and clearly well respected within the community. They, and their staff, support a number of good causes across Toubakouta and the surrounding area.

You have your time and space, and you can choose what you want to do on the island as there are many activities. Take you time. Breakfast and dinner are delicious. The stuff are polite.. The pelican filled island of Sanghomar and the mangroves of Javier. The nice ice cold drinking water at one of the stores in this village, not to mention the two 'made to be' cold codys beer I never expected but had in the island. The warm reception at a rest hole by an artistic local soul. The dive in the Atlantic from this island. A 13,000 cfa per kg of fresh sea lobsters for dinner. Plus a 1000 cfa large squid, it was the best deal.

The hotel has a magnificent view on the lake and the stay in the tree house was another adventure on its own.

We are on the island of Marlodge so you have to plan for crossing costs provided by independent canoes. It was a beautiful location with a lot of nature and peace. I throughly enjoyed my stay. the rooms were nice and the hotel manger was very kind and helpful.

Guests at the villa will be able to enjoy activities in and around Palmarin, like cycling. Kids pool is also available at Villa avec piscine entre plage et Siné Saloum, while guests can also relax in the garden. This is the best swimming pool in the south of Senegal. I visited this Villa with my wife and my newborn, just family time. The set up was just perfect for a weekend get away. There is a fishing town nearby and also Kayaks if looking for an outdoor activity

Situated in Missira, 6.6 km from Fathala Wildlife Reserve, Les Fromagers features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a shared lounge. Each accommodation at the 3-star hotel has pool views, and guests can enjoy access to a terrace and to a hot tub. The accommodation offers karaoke and a shared kitchen. The hotel is located in a beautiful village next to a lake and the oldest tree in this region (it's very impressive to see). We stayed at les Fromagers because we wanted to visit the Fathala Wild life reserve that is close by. On our arrival we found out that there are so many other activities to do like going fishing, watching crocodiles, visiting the islands etc. The owner of the place are very friendly and helpful. We experienced their great hospitality and felt very comfortable during our stay. I can recommend you also to try out their restaurant, since you get very tasty seafood there, freshly caught by the local fisherman. We will definitely visit again, when we are in Senegal.
