This is the kind of hotel I’m always hoping to find. Full of charm in a slightly out-of-the-way location. Don’t expect state-of-the-art, modern amenities, such as USB plugs by the bed. This gorgeously situated hotel has a very special country charm, the likes of which I am rarely so lucky to encounter. Very friendly welcome and excellent breakfast. The popular pub next-door serves food, and was lively and very cozy with the wood-burning stove. The hotel is lovingly appointed with a vast collection of antiques and a sumptuous carpet throughout. Absolutely quiet all night, awakened to soft birdsong. Free parking was another bonus. I very warmly recommend this lovely and utterly charming country hotel.

The host Eleanor and her husband Sean were very welcoming and made us feel at home. The upstairs room was clean and comfortable. The countryside very picturesque and the family farm with dogs, cows, hens etc was inviting.

All rooms at McCarthy’s B&B have a TV, desk and tea and coffee facilities. Each room has use of either an en suite shower room or a shared bathroom, with a hairdryer and toiletries. Out host was friendly and knowledgeable, and was very gracious in facilitating the cancellation of a second booking we had. The room was spacious and comfortable, although definitely not glamorous, and breakfast was very good. Location was great for walking about town.

The owner was the sweetest guy ever, he made us home made breakfast every morning and suggested so many beautiful places to see. I cannot recommend it enough, it felt very homey and cozy. 10/10
