Set in Rubuguli, 44 km from Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, Nshongi Camp offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a terrace and a restaurant. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi.

The location was incredible!! Situated in the forest with foliage all around the room. It is a 3-5 minute walk to the Rushaga gorilla tracking starting point -- the closest of all the lodges. I chose this location because I didn't have a vehicle and it was perfect! The staff was lovely, especially Gloria and Moses who helped me with my unconventional trip logistics and were attentive and kind. The food was delicious. The view from my room was stunning with a gorgeous balcony facing the forest where I took my coffee. The room was airy and bright with natural light and the ensuite bathroom had hot water in the shower (just let the water run for 15 minutes -- it sounds like a long time but this is what I was advised to do and the water apparently comes from a well). Although the lodge is in the forest, there were no bugs or mosquitos in the room because the windows and doors are well sealed (I didn't even need to use the mosquito net). There is no cell signal nor wifi but this allows for a peaceful holiday "off the grid" and wifi is accessible at the restaurant of a nearby hotel (15 min walk) if needed, which is what I did. Excellent value - I will definitely be recommending Nshongi to others.

We really enjoyed being at karungi camp! The staff is super friendly, helping out and the food is just delicious! In the evening we played games together which was so fun! We did the gorilla trekking at Rushaga and it was just perfect! Gordy helped us out getting everything settled for that. Even if your not doing the trekking we highly recommend that place! The area is really nice and the community has a lot of important and interesting projects going on, wich were impressive to see!

They managed the gorilla permit for us with less than 1 week in advance and without any extra fee. Fireplace every night, amazing service and amazing meals (full board for just +30$ per person). First night we pitched our tent but since it's cold and we wanted to stay longer and do some other hikes around + batwa pygmes, we got a self-contained room for a good price and it felt like high luxury for the price we paid. Last day we saw a gorilla from the chill area, I have no words to describe this piece of heaven, thank you guys!!
