Beautiful Tunisian home style property, don’t think I saw a cleaner place in all of my travels nor with a friendlier and more professional host!
As a solo female traveller, it wasn’t always the easiest getting around Tunisia but Hasan’s home stands out as one of the best places I stayed - his home was one where I felt the safest and most comfortable. This was sadly not the case everywhere I went. Hasan was in constant communication if I needed it and helped me get to his place late at night.
His is the only accommodation of its kind in Douz amongst faceless hotel chains, perfect for solo travellers and backpackers looking for a more affordable and authentic experience.

Everything was perfect. We were the first guests staying in this beautiful new house, built recently. Fatima is an excellent host, she helped us arrange a fantastic tour in the desert, offered us a delicious breakfast, and took care of every little detail to make our stay a unforgettable experience. Thank you Fatima for everything!!!!!!

Camp Mars is a must go if you wanna experience the desert and you dont have time for a big tour. The views are stunning and it is a truly unique experience. If you ask yourself how long you should stay: 1night is enough! We also did a short camel ride there which was very nice.

Muhammed and Brigitte are great hosts. We loved to stay at their place. They helped us not only with recommendations for places to visit and eat but also made us feel at home.
The apartment is spacious and clean, as clean as it gets with the sahara at the doorsteps, and we very much appreciated the nice pool in the yard.
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
This place is defined by its location on the edge of the desert. The room was functional, sparcely decorated, with surprisingly good a/c and wifi. The bathroom was rather crude. The breakfast was good and served at 7 a.m. to fit in with the 4.30-6.30 a.m. camel ride. The owner was charming (he got up to make sure we got on the camels at 4.30 a.m.) There are two camels to pet (though those were not the ones we rode).
They whole camp was welcoming. They treated us like family.
The home made break baked in sand was the best bread I had in my life.
The surrounding desert is magical. Everyone should sleep at least once in their life under those stars. The view was astonishing as if I saw the sky for the first time.
We hope to return soon.
We loved the location, right at the edge of the desert dunes. Staff were really friendly and helpful at organising a camel ride for the kids and a sunset 4x4 trip. Dinner on the first night was delicious.
