Everything! This was one of our favourite places on a months trip in the region. The communication with hosts was great from the moment we booked. The drive from Pinhao up through the vineyards to the village was delightful and the welcome gift of homemade almonds tarts and some of the hosts own port was very welcome and delicious!! The apartment itself was spotless and very well equipped for any length of stay. As we had a two year old with us we dined at the apartment every evening and the kitchen was better equipped than our own!! Lovely balcony with views of the valley and to listen to the sounds of peaceful village life. Our hosts welcomed us to their own home to use their wonderful pool and terrace. They provided lots of toys for our toddler who took a real shine to the place. A tour of the vineyard was such a treat also. Hrougjly recommend this place. No shops in the village so the hosts tell you to come prepared so come stocked up to enjoy a wonderful stay!
Pinhão (Near Gouvães)

Dois Lagares House is a little gem lying very close to the small town of Pinhao. It sits in the neglected middle range of accommodations in Pinhao. There is a substantially more expensive hotel in town and several (nice) hotels at a lower price range. There are also places to stay at wineries that lie much further from town. The House is a short walk from the city center (where there are tourist attractions and facilities and restaurants). (Upon exiting the train station, walk left along the Main Street, cross the bridge over the tributary stream to the Douro, then turn right heading inland. After a short walk, at the bend in the road to the left is the House.) The House is exceptionally clean, rooms comfortable, management is friendly and very accommodating, breakfast very nice. The House is more of a boutique hotel than a hotel per se, with a clean, simple, and sophisticated Scandinavian feel to it. If I ever return to Pinhao, I will, without hesitation, stay at the Dois Lagares House again.
São Cristóvão do Douro (Near Gouvães)

Francisco met us on arrival. Communication was excellent. It was important to meet him to show us how everything in the house works, especially the heat during the chilly winter.

The location was absolutely amazing and Pedro and Sara are really nice and super helpful. Specially thank you to Sara who was a real angel and fixed my dress (that broke when I was getting dressed) right before I went to my friend's wedding. For sure we will be back when visiting this lovely region.

Only accommodation during our trip in Portugal where everything was great. We got there during probably one of the hottest days in the valley and opening the door to find that the air conditioning was on was just great. The house has everything you need, and more, for a comfortable stay. Including some edibles for breakfast and oil/salt/species etc. The location is good, close to where you can park the car for free, just few steps up.
