This is a really unique place, tastefully decorated, and truly art inspired. The beautiful patio with multiple fountains has everything you need to relax. We felt like at he house of a friend or family, as peaceful as a sanctuary. Ed, the owner, is a wonderful host and a truly nice and kind to everyone. The location is very beautiful, a hidden gem in Portugal. However it would be difficult to get around without a car, unless your plans are to do the multiple beautiful hikes (Ed would give you all the information about hem) around the residence. If you have a car, you could easily go to Obidos and Lisbon( about 1 hour), Nazare ( 40 minutes), different beautiful caves, lagoons and many other nature wonders, and beautiful cities. The area reminded us of many other equally beautiful places like Tuscany, some areas around Santa Cruz in Northern California, villages of Extremadura ( Spain), among others.
Alvados (Near Casal Velho)

A wonderful place, in the peace and quiet of a natural park. A great property with a lot of attention to details. It was quiet, welcoming, discreet, and friendly. We stayed there for two days for our 30th wedding anniversary, and even though it was raining all the time, the inside pools and the cosy furniture made this stay very pleasant. The wonderful staff who greeted us and cooked for us were always smiling. I can just recommend this beautiful getaway.

The house is excellent. It is very spacious, the living room and bedrooms are very comfy. Everything was clean. The grill area was ready to use. Great pool area. The quietness is unmatchable and together with the view from the valley and the pool makes it a great option for a couple of days vacation to rest and recharge batteries.

The house was simply amazing. Everything was brandnew and very tastefuly decorated. Although everything was new, the house has an authentic feeling of portugese culture. We loved the fire place and the garden. Our dog was very welcome and even got a small ball as a present :) The village and the surroundings are beautiful, we had nice walks there and there were very good restaurant in walking distance. We also had daytrips to close villages and cities, that we enjoyed. Our host was very friendly and welcoming.
