Hamood desert local camp, hotel in Ḩawīyah

Set in Al Wāşil in the Al Sharqiyah region, Hamood desert local camp has a balcony and mountain views. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking.

Wonderful experience from the beginning till the end. Perfect location few hundred meters from the road which gives sense of privacy and also provides spectacular views over the dunes. Haven’t tried any additional activities offered by the camp - relaxing in the middle of the desert was worth the price. Staff provided great food options - consider all need to be cooked in a simple kitchen. In my opinion this is by far much better option than any fancy camps

The camp is rather new, and while it’s close to Bidiyah, it’s on a dune, so you still get desert vibes and a beautiful sunset.

A fabulous night. The camp is located deep into the desert and the ride in over the dunes was part of the fun. It was very peaceful, with only 5 rooms and a perfect setting up on the dunes. We could discard our shoes for the duration of our stay, and had wonderful sunset and dawn walks up into the high dunes directly behind our room. The staff were friendly and helpful.

    - highly recommend booking the desert drive for 30 OMR (per car), this included the transfer to/from the camp from the parking lot. The drive to the camp includes a serious uphill section, a cheap 4x4 rental got stuck several and couldn't make it. The desert drive is lots of fun, the driver will drive to 2 viewpoints (for sunset) with fun dune driving in between.

Friendly managers and especially the working staff was amazing. Decided to take our own car to the camp and got to enjoy some sand driving. Booked a sunset tour which was great fun and beautiful. Got up early to walk up the big dune for the sunrise (ca. 20min walk up).

The camp is must visit place. It all starts with driving 4wd in the desert (great fun but easy). If you do not have, they drive you. The tent is spacious with bathroom and great window. Bed is ver comfortable. Dinner absolute top, especially the camel meat. Possibility to ride a camel or dune bashing with a driver. Farhad as our guy in the camp was absolute best host always available to help.

We were picked up at the agreed place and taken to the campsite. We paid for a short drive into the desert and had a lot of fun and beautiful views. Food and accommodation were very good. For photographers and romantics: The campsite is not quite suitable for stargazing. It is too close to a city whose night glow lights up the night sky.

We opted for the pickup and dune bashing for OMR15 each. It was good fun and the sunset from the top of the dunes was amazing. The camp was neat and clean. We were the only four guests, which made it extra special. The food was super and plentiful, and water, tea, coffee and dates available all the time. Star gazing at night by the campfire was perfect! Our tent had a private bathroom. We could tell that some had shared facilities. Overall it ticked all the points for us in terms of a desert experience.

Super fun driving to and from the camp. Camp is small, quite and the location is fantastic, far from other camps and literally in the middle of the sand dunes, which really made our desert experience special. Great service, including very tasty dinner and breakfast.

It was so much fun driving to the camp, the accommodation was lovely a lot larger than I was expecting. The staff were all very friendly. We enjoyed the food, hot and tasty .There were only two other families staying at the camp and enjoyed the evening chatting under the stars. Sunset and sunrise in the desert was fantastic lots of photos.
