Surrounded by the high sand dunes of Oman’s desert, the eco-friendly Retreat Camp in Sharqiya provides authentic, Arabian-style accommodation in tents. It offers camel rides and tours to nearby locations.

I spent two weeks in Oman but definitely this was the highlight of the trip. We were picked up by the owner from Al Wusta (as we didn't have a 4x4) and he drove us to the camp. There was only one group of friends and the rest of the camp was empty, which was nice as we chose this specific camp to relax and disconnect. Nice activities were offered (other guys did the dune bashing). The owner spent a really long time talking to us - he was the nicest person in the already very friendly country. The staff working there was very polite and helpful. Food options (including vegetarian!) were amazing, for the desert I think it was almost luxurious. I will always recommend this camp to everyone, it was really nice and peaceful. This camp is a gem of Wahiba Sands. And the tallest dune is located right next to the camp, which is a must to climb (although exhausting). The sunset was beautiful. The owner really cares about his business and the guest, as well as his staff.

We had the chalet for 2 with the indoor pool. It was a blast. Comfortable and nice; the cooking area and the grill was indoor, cosy atmosphere and near to the desert and the wadi. They arange nice trips for you, if you like. You only have to ask and you get what you asked for. funny animals, like asian turkeys, observing you through the window, while you are cooking. Perfect Internet, so we could get some work done too.

We were happy with our stay, the dunes behind the camp were super fun to explore and the tent was pretty impressive. We experienced heavy rainstorm while we were there which was pretty wild. The tents are strong, no worries there! The food was fine and vegetarian friendly.

The place is great, simple, clean and with detail. You can really relax and enjoy the atmosphere in the desert. Our guide was perfect, he answered all our questions, he was funny, helpful and interested in everyone. Thanks so much for your hospitality, we really had a wonderful time. The food was also good and the ginger tea was my little highlight 😉 100% recommend staying at the nomadic desert camp if you are looking for a more traditional and personal place.

Very nice location in the desert, perfectly organized, friendly people at the office, a good driver for the transfer, Fourad took excellent care of us in the camp. Tent was beautiful, beds were good. Achmed, the owner , and his family)was kind and helpful. The two other guest were good company. We choose this camp because we liked to be further in the desert and wanted to enjoy the views, the darkness at night and the silence. Overall we enjoyed it a lot! (

Very nice camp, not too big so it feels really familial. Abdullah and his family make you feel really welcome. I also liked how they treat their animals, the camels are really part of the family and in a very good condition. All too often the animals are just treated as tourist attraction and not in good shape, that is definitely not the case here. We even had the chance to pet a 4 day old baby camel!
