Putaruru Hotel, hotel in Tirau

Built in 1952, Putaruru Hotel is located in Putaruru, in the heart of the Waikato Region. The building has art deco features and free private parking is available on site.

The hotel has obviously seen better days however, the hotel is in the process of a renovation. Currently getting new carpets throughout. Our firm bed was very comfy and new clean crisp linen. Having a very clean bed at an affordable price in a small rural town was important. This old landmark surprised us as it was a known grotty hotel so we reluctantly booked but was pleasantly surprised.

Hills Vista Lodge, hotel in Tirau

Located just 39 km from Hamilton Gardens, Hills Vista Lodge provides accommodation in Matamata with access to a garden, barbecue facilities, as well as full-day security.

Stunning place to stay close to Hobbiton. We absolutely loved the surroundings and location of this place. The Lodge itself is so unique - a comfortable home away from home with everything you need. Having breakfast provided was an added bonus with eggs from the chickens on-site. Kon and Briony are lovely and caring hosts and the communication about the check-in was fantastic. We stayed in September and it was raining and rather cool but the lodge has a fire place which was so cozy. We only got to experience it for 2 nights and I would happily return to stay for longer.

Our whole family loved the cottage. The beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We enjoyed the luxury of the cottage. The kids loved as well watching Netflix on the TV. The air condotion came in handy on our arrival day. Our second day there it was pouring and we enjoyed very much being able to have so much room for us. The location near Hobbiton was as well great for us. The conversation with Brittany was very fast and friendly. Thanks heaps for the lovely card and surprise in the fridge.

This is a brand new place, that greets you with wonderful landscaping, and even provides a car port for your car. The interior was simply stunningly in every aspect. The owner clearly has a wonderful eye for interior design. That said, everything was very comfortable, and the kitchen was exceptionally well provisioned. This is definitely a place we will recommend to all our friends. Also, the location was really good for us - close enough to Auckland for a day visit for a function, without having to stay there and fight all the traffic!
