Enjoy a beautiful 30 minute boat cruise through the Pelorus and Kenepuru Sound, getting here is just part of the adventure. There are scheduled runs available. Or you can come to Hopewell by plane, floatplane, or kayak. And there is a water taxi service available from Picton, Portage and Te Mahia. We are happy to help you organise your transfer.

We loved everything about our stay at Lochmara Lodge. We stayed for two nights with our family and It was a little bit of a splurge, but did not disappoint! The location was stunning, the fact that you got there by water taxi made it remote and uncrowded, and there were plenty of things to do (hike, paddleboard, kayak). Also, the food was delicious and the staff was accommodating and helpful.
Portage (Near Kenepuru Sounds)
Just 15 minutes by boat from Picton, The Portage Resort offers rooms with a private balcony or patio and features stunning views of the Marlborough Sounds.You can relax by the outdoor pool, go fishing from the beach or rocks, hike the Queen Charlotte track, or simply unwind on the grassed areas that surround the hotel.

The hotel is under new management and I could not fault it. The staff were welcoming, attentive and super friendly. The reception and restaurant area looked newly renovated and was modern and fresh. My meal in the restaurant was very tasty. The bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept well. And the General Manager very kindly dropped me back to the start of the QC track in the morning. Plus the sunset view from the bar is breathtaking. Don’t be put off By the bad reviews - the new management seem to be doing a fantastic job!
