From the moment we booked at The Glenrock everything was superb. The hotel communicated with us before arrival to ask if we had any requirements and also to ensure we were clear where we were going so didn’t get lost. The location was idyllic and peaceful with access to waterfalls and walks nearby. The room was extremely comfortable and we were lucky enough to have direct access to the river from the balcony. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were attentive without being overbearing and everyone was so friendly. The eco effort put in by the hotel was excellent with glass water bottles and refillable glass shower gels and shampoos. The food was delicious and excellent portions with the breakfasts and curry in banana leaf particular highlights. We enjoyed the experience so much we decided to stay an extra night at the end of our trip :) Special mention to Asanka who was superb throughout and an absolute credit to the place, awesome guy and hopefully meet him again the next time we stay.

This is a beautiful place to stay, very peaceful in wonderful surroundings. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Supun the chef, produced beautiful food, with wonderful flavours and took pride in what he made for us. Prasanth's hosting and attention to us as guests was excellent. Location is excellent as its in the jungle area. Very easy place to go for a natural bathing stream. Also to see the Non Perial estate upper division (excellent views from top of hills).This was our second occasion here. Three days period we were in fresh mind due to the location of this place. After giving dry rations to host we can prepare good foods for all meals. Its a very good thing .For that we have to pay an extra payment. We will come back.

Wow! The Backyard Balangoda is something truly special. Nestled in the family’s beautiful tea plantation, it is a stunning retreat designed and created by talented young artist Sumit. From the architecture, through to the branding, and through the restaurant into the fabulous menu, everything has been carefully considered to give the visitor a completely unique Sri Lankan experience. The accommodation is in a rustic style, immaculately clean and-frame bungalow with the most stunning views over the valley - an absolutely magical experience to stay in and wake up to. While this is totally off the beaten tourist track, it’s so totally worth visiting - we were only sad we didn’t have time to stay a few more days. If it’s available, book it! Just make sure you book a few nights! Well done sumit! Keep doing what you are doing.
