An old farmhouse with a lot of charme, a very scenic location. Cozy and clean room with bathroom, a very family atmosphere and a very nice and friendly owner. In the evening there is a homemade soup for everyone, in the morning a typical Icelandic breakfast with home-baked bread, homemade waffles and many other things. There is also a hot pot behind the house. We felt very comfortable. We recommend.
Beautiful old farm house with kind friendly hosts who gave us lots of info. Delicious famous family recipe soup for dinner and absolute spread for breakfast at a big farm table with other guests. Homely feel great place they should be charging more considering the hospitality provided
The guesthouse is a charming old house in the beautiful countryside, close to hiking trails, as well as access to lava tube and ice cave tours. Our room upstairs had everything we needed, including a comfortable bed and nice bathroom with shower. The hosts were exceptionally gracious, told us interesting things about their family and the area, and fed us very, very well. It was a wonderful experience staying here!
Second time I've stayed there. Special place, Sammi is a great host. Love the family style everyone around the table breakfast and dinner made by Sammi - who would think sweet potato soup is so good? Nice location, very close to Hraunfossar plus good hiking either up mountain or inside ravine with waterfall plus the property itself is unique. I routed part of my trip to specifically be able to stay there a couple days again.
Such a pleasant night with an outstanding view. In a secluded traditional house, handled by a welcoming family, serving us traditional food. Located at the starting point of diverse hikes and close to the Hraunfossar waterfall.
Very warm welcome. Sammy, the host made us waffles upon arrival & gave us a tour of the beautiful farmhouse. Later Sammy made us & the other guests soup, which we shared together at the family dinner table, conversing with people from all corners of the world. The surrounding area is breathtaking with so much to see & do. We thoroughly enjoyed our chats with Sammy about his life in Iceland & feeling 'at home' at Gamli Baer. We enjoyed our staying in Guesthouse Gamli Baer! The owner of the place was really friendly and made us feel at home. I had reserved two rooms for seven of us to stay in, but apart from that we were served waffles as a snack, dinner and breakfast. We enjoyed our time in the hot tub and slept well in the clean rooms. Our one year old child was also taken care of so wonderfully! This was the place i'd love to come back! Thank you from all of us!
The host was incredible. It felt like home, being with family. The homemade soup was out of this world good! Waffles on arrival. An amazing breakfast spread. I will come back again one day. Incredible value for money.
