I would highly recommend Johnson’s Homestay. It’s situated halfway between the Alleppey Beach and Town Centre making both highly accessible on foot or in an auto.
Johnson’s hospitality was amazing, he is very knowledgeable on the local area and traditions, we celebrated Onam together and Johnson kindly took us to go and see the natural bioluminescence at Alleppey beach at night.
If you’re looking for a comfortable, safe and enlightening homestay experience with a great family, this is ideal.

Everything was incredible. The owners and host were amazing and kind. Really easy to talk to and so warm and welcoming. The rooms were faultless and well maintained. Breakfast was unreal, a “help yourself” display of fresh fruit, a different local dish every day, also greeted with a delicious fruit juice. (They would also allow for requests) It was always super tasty and you left totally satisfied ready for your day. The location was perfect, right on the beach front. Stepping onto the beach immediately as you leave and appreciating the sunset every night is a crazy feeling. It’s also an easy walk into the town and backwaters which was very enjoyable pleasant route, or tuk tuk option. Om, who worked there organised our backwater tours which were spectacular. Everything was seamless and no request too much! After traveling for 6 months around Asia it provided the perfect spot to meet with my parents and has become our favourite accommodation of our travels so far. Would HIGHLY recommend!!
