Highest recommendations for the Torc Hotel and its wonderful staff. The location (Killarney) is an excellent launching pad for tourists, such as myself, who enjoy trekking throughout the southwestern Kerry and Cork peninsulas (Dingle- 25 min to Castlemaine; Iveragh- 30 min to Kenmare; Beara- 30 min to Knockduragh; as well as Sheep’s Head and Mizen Head- 2 hours to each point) but do not want to have to unpack and repack to move to a new location everyday. It offers ample, free parking and is just outside of the busy town center, which is a plus for me as it provides a quiet retreat. The hotel has full breakfast service for its guests and serves meals 7 days per week, even off-season. This latter is especially convenient as during off-season, it can be very difficult to find an open restaurant in the aforementioned areas. The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. Generous pours on beverages. The hotel is very quaint (still uses actual keys for their rooms) but the rooms have been updated with modern bathrooms and fixtures (everything is shiny and clean). The beds are luxurious (very comfortable mattresses and comforters). The wait staff (both breakfast and restaurant/bar detail) are super friendly and attentive. I’ve been a B&B-er guest in Ireland for many years, but for the above reasons, I think I’ve found a home away from home with the Torc Hotel. I will definitely be back every year!

I like everything, room was beautiful, very clean, with wonderful view, I love birds singing and nature. Breakfast was one of the best I have ever ate ..the smell of fresh baked scones and lovely toffee pudding as well as many other delicious....

The best part about our stay at the hotel was the fun entertainment at night. It was so nice to sit in the bar area with a Guinness and enjoy the music. It made for a fun night's stay. The morning breakfast was yummy, and we enjoyed speaking with the staff, but the musicians are what we remember most about this stay.

This review is for the 3BR Ethan apartment not Ethan Cottage as we were lucky enough to be upgraded prior to arriving. The apartment is fabulous and having been on the road for 6 weeks, we very much appreciated the comfort and warmth offered. Our apartment was really the size of a house and it had everything we needed including a much needed clothes dryer! The rooms are spacious with 2 BR having ensuites. The kitchen is HUGE and is well stocked with a fridge, freezer, stove, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer as well as as a big table to eat it in a beautiful windowed some that overlooks the garden. The lounge is on the smaller size but has comfortable couches and a small fire place. The tiled floors have underfloor heating which was a blessing for us as Ireland was in the middle of a cold snap and it was -2. This really was a perfect place to stay in winter!

We had a 3 bedroom cottage that was spacious with a very well equipped kitchen. The cottages are spaced well apart and are quiet. The cottage has some nice safety features such as baby gates at the top and bottom of the stairs and handrails in the main floor bathroom. The cottages are on the edge of Killarney, a few minutes drive to Muckross Abbey, Muckross House and the Killarney National Park. You can see sheep grazing in the field adjacent to the cottages.
