Moate Lodge, hotel in Kilkea

A Georgian farmhouse in the Kildare countryside, Moate Lodge near Athy provides individually designed rooms and a full breakfast menu.

The house is absolutely charming and the hosts Mary and Raymond were so friendly and warm. So much history and knowledge here. We were shown into our beautiful light filled room, that had spectacular views over the stunning countryside. The bed was so comfortable. Facilities were great and clean. Breakfast was wonderful. I will always remember the sweet sound of the birds singing us into the morning. There is a large town 5 mins drive away with lots of pubs, restaurants, and normal amenities. Such great value for money.

There is a real classic feel to the Hotel, it has a real charm about it. There was plenty of Car parking spaces. The food was excellent, and Michael Walsh the general manager, gave us a upgrade to top it all off. We even managed to get a late checkout from the very kind staff.

What an amazing place! We took some family members there on our tour of Ireland and they were blown away with Kilkea Castle. We marked all the hotels we stayed at '4 in a bed' style and Kilkea Castle came out on top! The breakfast was awesome. My wife left her boots in the room on our departure and they were return to our home in the UK the following week! I couldn't recommend Kilkea Castle highly enough.

The staff were awesome. The greeter was dignified and had a presence befitting a castle. Very impressive! The grounds were great and nice for a walk. The breakfast was special with breath taking views from the second story. Once again the servers were awesome and accommodating, great fun! The rooms were just stunning, very large, huge bathroom. The bed was luxurious. The coffee makings were fabulous. The bar server was friendly and accommodating. Everything was unreal as this was our first stay on Castle grounds. I loved it!

This castle is simply stunning. Every part of our stay was incredible. The breakfast was impeccable and the spa pools were well worth a visit. The bed was heavenly and the bathtub was large and luxurious. Even the grounds were fun to wander around and explore. Highly recommend this castle for a stay!

It was a functional destination. We required a bed to stay in for our friends wedding in Kilkea Castle. We had our pet with us so a big plus is that North Lodge is pet friendly and close to the Castle.

Beautiful place! Traveling with a toddler, the lodge with it's two separate rooms was ideal and very comfortable. The breakfast spread and menu was one of the best I had in a very long time.

The property was absolutely stunning and the experience was amazing. The castle is beautiful and immaculately maintained. clenched the trip for us was the falconry. That man is so passionate about what he does and he loves his birds lik children. He wanted us to learn about the birds and love them as much as he does. That experience alone made us want to come back to the castle. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. Breakfast was also delicious, with plenty of food and drinks offered.
