The best homestay in Java! Dave the host is a legend. He's super helpful and very fun to be around. If your in need of anything he can easily sort it.The place itself is super clean, very spacious and in a great location close to the beach. The space has lots of nice places to chill out in between surfs. The breakfast was so tasty, best banana pancakes around. Can't reccomend Daves homestay enough!

The lodge has a nice garden where you can relax in a tarmac. I booked a cheaper room which didn't have its own terrace, but the building had a common terrace which no one else was using. The room was spacious enough, and I liked the design of the bathroom.
The beach is just 7 mins away. You can watch the high waves crushing on the shore.
The owner was responsive over WhatsApp and helped arrange a private car from Kalitesail (if you're coming from Bromo) and to Banyuwangi. The driver was friendly. On the way from the lodge, the driver accommodated my request to make a quick stop at Djawatan forest, which was nice.
The staff were friendly and helpful. They took me to a dragon fruit plantation in the evening and showed the rare night blooming flowers.
Breakfast was included in the price, it was ok. You can only get lunch/dinner at the homestay as there are no other places to eat nearby. Food was good, portions were generous, including some fruit/vegetables, and there was some variety from day to day although not a lot of choice.
I took the expensive turtle tour, which was amazing. As I was alone, I had to stay an extra night so that I could join other guests who were going on the next day (otherwise, it's too expensive to go alone). Green Bay in the morning was nice, the hike down through the rainforest was interesting and the beach was beautiful (it's included in the tour but I actually did it the day before the tour - got a bit more time at Green Bay which was nice). The 3 h ride to Sukamade beach through the forest was interesting, we saw black monkeys, birds, and a large bat. We did see a large turtle on the beach in the evening. Releasing baby turtles in the morning was a unique experience.
As families grow in size, so too do the needs of a family holiday. That’s why family hotels are set up to cater for all ages, from toddlers and kids to teens and adults. Typically, you can expect restaurants with kids’ menus, games rooms, fitness centres and a pool area where children can play and parents can relax.
It is expensive compared to other places in the area (I stayed in a few of them). However, this is by far the best place it could not be in a more perfect location. I stayed in one of the bungalows, the four-poster bed was amazing, the bathroom had water pressure and a sit-down toilet. The surfboards they have there are very good quality and fun to ride and the knowledgable locals who hung around there were very fun to party with and offer surfing advice.
Most of all I liked the host Ari. She made it a great stay.
She really makes you feel welcome and fun/great to talk to also😊
The place was quiet and had a kitchen which I really enjoyed using. Great place to stay!
I had a really great time staying at the surf camp and ended up extending my stay by a few days because it was such a nice spot and atmosphere. Big Daddy / King Kong and Tomo were wonderful hosts and company for surfing!
Great recommendation. Not because of the quality of the room, it's an Ok simple room, but because of the host Hendro and his family who made my stay in Pulau Merah an extremely nice experience.
Family homestay, Hendro who is managing the homestay is wonderful, he or his family will help you for anything you need, he can organize a lot of trips, very simple homestay but everything you need
This place was a real find. Just a short walk to the beach and very affordable. The room is simple but it has all you need. What made our stay really great was the owner, Hendro, who is an absolutely outstanding host! Hendro is very approachable and has a wealth of info about the area and activities. He is also a great guide and we went with him for a great boat tour of the mangroves just outside the national park. He also runs a restaurant at the beach, where we got a delicious dragon fruit welcome drink. Highly recommended! :)
