This resort was tucked away in the jungle quite some distance from civilisation- exactly what we wanted. Tunak is a new resort which has been open for about a year. There is clearly some heavy investment from the hotel vehicles to the fabulous villas. Some areas of the resort are still being built such as the gym and veranda bar. The views from the resort are outstanding and can be enjoyed from the villas or the main restaurant. The food was excellent and varied. We enjoyed every single meal! Staff were warm and friendly and couldn’t do enough for you! The nearest beach is a short drive away and it is completely isolated. You can also walk /run there or borrow a hotel ATV to drive yourself there. We enjoyed releasing baby turtles here.

The Dome was amazing! Out of all the other hotels we stayed in Indonesia this was our favoruite. Staff were amazing, kind and fun! The room and bathroom itself was so nice, really cool and super clean. Bed very comfy too! The restaurant was excellent, we went to a resort in Mentawais after here and the food was good but we were still raving about dishes from The Dome. Close to surf, epic location... 15-20 min on the scooter to town but its relaxing here with a pool and epic view. Thanks Dome team!

I had an amazing stay at Duyung Rooms and Resto. It’s a family-run place, and they made me feel at home right away. The family is incredibly welcoming and always ready to help, whether it’s arranging a boat for surfing, renting a scooter, or offering tips on the best spots around.
The rooms are spacious and simple – no luxuries, but everything you need for a comfortable stay. The food is delicious, and they also offer a laundry service. I initially planned to stay just a few days but ended up staying for two weeks because I loved it so much.
If you’re looking for a cozy, no-fuss place with great people and amazing food, this is it! I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in Gerupuk.

We loved Ekas Surf Resort. Five minute walk to the beach to catch the boat out. The staff advised us when the tides were right to surf and organised the boats to be ready. Speaking of staff, all of the staff we dealt with were very helpful and friendly. A real asset to the resort. The rooms were more than adequate but we didn't spend much time in them. The place is remote, so be aware of that. In saying that, we loved it and will definitely be back!

Words cannot descripe how beautiful our stay was in Tunak.
I rarely leave reviews, but promised my self I must write one for Tunak.
1) The resort is phenomenal. Very taken care off, beautiful views, and just eye dropping at every angle.
2) The staff and service was excellent. We only stayed 3 nights, but it felt as if they were our family. We built a connection with everyone there.
I am not good with words, but honestly, this hotel made our honey moon very special!

Such a lovely family running this homestay! Karyadi is very helpful with everything, he speaks english very well (and german!). His wife cooks very good food. The room was clean and we got water, towels and soap, so everything you need. The facilities are simple, but it‘s enough. Really good value for money.
It seems like this homestay is a fraud.
The address isn't specified. When I was on the phone with the "host" to fund out the address, he told us to ask people when we arrive in the village.
Of course no one knew of the place and the owner was no longer reachable. I made the trip there for nothing and was forced to book a new place. When I asked for a refund, I never heard back from him. Still haven't gotten my money back.
We planned to stay 10 nights in this resort but ended up expanding our stay to 12 nights because it was so great.
The rooms are very nice and clean and have a balcony with a great view on the ocean and the sunset.
The people working there were all very nice, kind and fun. They offer to help with everything and whenever we asked for something it was immediately done. They also help with organising transport or scooters or whatever you need.
On top of it the food - both breakfast and dinner - was very good. It was all very fresh and delicious.
Amazing location and virtually no other tourists. Close to reef breaks suited for beginners to advance level of surfing ability. There were cooking facilities if you wanted to use them but we chose the home delivery options from local restaurants. Plenty of space for a family or 2 couples. The view was fabulous from up on the hill. There are air conditioners in the 2 bedrooms and ceiling fans in the main living areas. There are quite a few steps up to the house that we managed no problem but if you had mobility issues it would be difficult.
Mr Duyung and the family were super friendly. It was easy to speak with the personal and everyone was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, fresh and the prices were very fair. The beds were comfortable and large.
We liked the atmosphere and felt very welcome.
Place is perfect if you want it quiet and be with your travel partner / family alone. Great location, nice view over the bay and spacious.
(You don ´t hear the mosque at 5am, but some fisher boat motors just before dawn… apart from that super quiet)
We booked Villa Utamaro to celebrate a special family birthday and it certainly met all our expectations. The modern villa is located on a prominent headland overlooking the ocean allowing for amazing views of the moon and sunrises. At the villa, Yoyo, the property manager, attended to all our requests with quite calm and professionalism, booking transport, arranging a boat for surfing, coordinating take-in meals and arranging a special 'lobster' birthday dinner at the villa.
