Dalmunzie Castle Hotel, hotel in Glenshee

Dating back to 1510, Dalmunzie Castle Hotel lies in the south of the Cairngorms National Park.

The hotel location is special .. remote and beautiful with lovely grounds to walk around. The hotel is quirky and old with a lot of stairs but we enjoyed that uniqueness. The 2 best things were the staff - who are always lovely and very professional - and the food - which is EXCELLENT!

Wow, such a superb location. Comfy beds, immaculately clean rooms. Previous reviews do not reflect the new management and they are and have been striving to improve things which is evident. Menu for food is not extensive and its continental breakfast with eggs which we found sufficient. Staff were absolutely brilliant, warm.and friendly I would deffo go again...our dog loved it too.

Dalmunzie Castle has a magnificent setting, and we were greeted by a baby buzzard on the bridge - which was extra special. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. The bedroom and its facilties were great. One of us enjoyed the dinner and breakfast (see below). The welcome pack for the dog was much appreciated. The gardens and walks are lovely.

Amazing location, just beautiful! Great for wildlife. Very clean and family friendly. Lots to do for kids if the weather is nice. Loved the outside space. Handbook was very helpful and we enjoyed some of the suggested walks. We visited a few places within the area and enjoyed the local Highland Games. Fantastic. Would love to stay again!

This atmospheric castle hotel definitely lived up to its name - set amongst the beautiful Cairngorm mountains. A little down at heel but quaintly so. The staff were so kind and attentive including giving us a fun whisky masterclass. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel. We were not expecting haute cuisine so dinner was just fine and the menu prices most reasonable. All in all good value for money. Lots of lovely walks in the surrounding countryside.

Beautiful landscape. We were happy we could also just eat at the bar and didn’t need to do the full course meal as we were not that hungry. Excellent breakfast and room was decorated nicely. They even had an antique bar billiard table in the bar lounge which was fun.

Location was fantastic, very relaxing. Literally in the middle of nowhere. Staff were very friendly, helpful and chatty. Had both of our evening meals there and the food was exceptional. We had a few days away and I would recommend this place to family and friends for the food alone!
