The Castle Hotel, hotel in Mordington

Situated in Berwick-Upon-Tweed and with Spittal Beach reachable within 2.3 km, The Castle Hotel features express check-in and check-out, non-smoking rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a bar.

The location was ideal just opposite the train station as that was our mode of travel. The staff were friendly & helpful. The room was larger than expected with an additional bed (unexpected as we only booked a double). It had modern decor, comfortable bed and was exceptionally clean. It looked to me like a recently renovated room. The shower room was a good size and had plenty of fluffy towels and toiletries. The corner sink was tiny but not really an issue. It would have been nice if there had been a shelf though. There were plenty of tea & coffee making facilities, large TV, plenty of hangers and the room, although it overlooked the station had a good view of the hills beyond. Passing trains were barely noticeable so the room was quiet too. The whole hotel was characterful and nicely decorated. It had a warm, welcoming feel

The Kings Arms Hotel, hotel in Mordington

The Kings Arms Hotel is located on Hide Hill in the centre of Berwick upon Tweed. An 18th-century hotel, it was once visited by Charles Dickens, Lewis Carol and The Beatles.

when possible, this is my go to hotel in Berwick, located on 1st floor ideal location for town and river/sea front. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Didnt do refreshment. Note there was an issue with the sink bad drainage, which was sorted and though I opted out of room being serviced, it only took a couple of days and there was always enough milk cartons. Plenty of plug sockets, includng either side of the bed.

Good location. Easy to get to and from the A1. Rural location with nice views southwards towards the Cheviot Hills. Interesting house crammed with historical photos, paintings and prints, connected with the owners’s family and also his work as a historian. Breakfast was well cooked.

The breakfast was very nice: good choice of cereals and items for the cooked breakfast. We were well stocked up for the day. The ambience of the dining area in the library with nicely laid table looked inviting. The adult beds were comfortable in the family room. We enjoyed sitting in the sitting room for a change of scene.

AThe house is from the 1860s and is stunning, with gardens to the front and side. The house is full of paintings of the family and historical events. The library could have kept me in the house for the duration of our stay. Owner was friendly and helpful, providing ample breakfasts.
